Where are all the local PA riders? The previous post got me thinking, there are lots of trails in PA, especially the Northcentral region, but I don't see a lot of posts.
Give a shout if you ride in PA!!! :celebrating:

Hey Guys! I live in Westmoreland County and usually ride up on Laurel Mountain, which has trails in westmoreland, somerset, and fayette counties. The trails were really nice for a lot of last winter, and I'm hoping for the same or better this year. Also met lots of nice people there.
I'd really like to get up to the Potter county area this winter as I've never been there. Maybe we can get a little ride together there sometime?

Live in MD but ride in PA. I know of all of the different places to ride in PA (the internet is a good educator!) but the only place I have ridden is the Laurel Highlands with QuadRacer. Would like to get to Potter County. Would like to stay in the Wellsboro area and ride the Canyon and/or stay in Emporium and ride from there. My wife and I each ride, and my kids are six and almost four. :beerchug: :fluffy:

Maybe we should try to put an HCS Potter Ride together...Coudersport would be the best starting point due to hotel situation and Canyon is a nice ride from there with gas in Cherry Springs and Ansonia so no problem there. Jan. 7,8, and 9 is the Potter County Snowmobile Clubs yearly Rodeo in the Snow which is a good time but trails are very busy and hotels are full if conditions are good. The southern end of the county has some good riding down by Kettle Creek State Park.
Pic in my sig. was taken at the parking area of the Pa Grand Canyon...aka Colton Point State Park

Sounds like an excellent idea!! I bet Bob, GoCaps, would be up for it too. While the rodeo sounds good, it also sounds bad for the reasons (crowded, lack of rooms etc.) you mention. Maybe some time a little after then. I have vacation saved up to roll over to next year just for sledding...hopefully I'm not too busy to use it though!! :beerchug:

A get together would be great. The only downfall for me is the planning. I work every third weekend, and when I do I work both Sat. and Sun. Our schedule is for a quarter (3months) at a time, and I won’t know my work schedule for Jan.-Mar. ’05 until early December. I need to get the ‘fam out and also ride with the guys, which my wife has no problem with. Definitely need to kick this idea around some. My first ride will probably be in the Laurel Highlands, and I am hoping Dave (Quadracer) will be available! Dave, I got your e-mail and will be in touch! :beerchug:

Potato City is a good starting point. You can cross 6 and go down Irish Farm Rd to the trail to the clubhouse for breakfast or you can follow Billy Lewis and go just about anywhere from there.
I hope they keep up the good job grooming Laurel Mtn. this winter as they did last, it's only about a 10 mile tow for me to get there.

I think Potato City would be a good spot to meet, It,s right on RT#6 for the guy's that are towing, good parking and you can hit any point in Potter from there. Not to sure about the Sno-Deo weekend for A date, Not so much the traffic but lack of rooms. Maybe the following weekend?

Quadracer it's 285 miles to jim's and takes about five hours. It went great, i left with 168 safe hp with twins and rj had 159 and a single pipe. He is going to have fun, his sled looks bone stock, even has stock heat shield on the pipe. No not many guys up here do more than pipes and reeds. My last sled was a zr 1010 and i will never ride stock again.

You have to know what your doing with these things because you can add some bolt ons and make them slower than stock. Yes i speak from experience.

Wow...this thread is really taking off! Good to see so many PA folks! I almost sold my sled before moving back here from Upstate NY last year. Sure glad I didn't. G5301, sounds like you're trip to Jim's was well worth it! Your sled will be the talk of the mountain. I'm tempted to mod mine as we always want more, but for now the stock F7 is as much or more than my experience can safely handle. I may get an ODS clutch kit just for the heck of it though.

It is good to see some chatter on here! What is hard though is the fact that we won't be able to ride for most likely another four weeks! Oh, well, it could be longer!
If a person wanted to see the PA Grand Canyon and wanted to stay at the Black Forest Inn instead of the Coachstop Inn in the north, how many miles by trail is it to Ansonia or Colton State Park? Just curious, as I would like to take the wife and kids this winter. Can't be more than 30 miles by trail between the two, one-way, could it?

It could be a little less but get a map for sure, those state forest road's can be tricky going to the canyon.

I think it is less than 10 miles. It is only about 5 miles or so from Ansonia to the Colyon Point lookout

Yeah, where do you eat? I went to Seven Springs ski resort once (Foggy Goggle bar), and a few years ago I went to the ski resort on the north side of the turnpike (I-76), I think it was Laurel Mountain. It was closed last year due to the owner dieing, I think. Also, I know where you turn to go to Wallets (sp?), but never went there. :beer2:
