I am thinking about getting a new sled for the wife she weighs 115 pounds would the 380 fan be enough sled for her or should i go with the 550. I know she can handle a bigger sled she has a mxz 583 now. But the fans are much cheaper.

She won't be happy going from a 583 liquid to a 380 fan. I'd get the 550. I'm a Cat guy, but I would never buy a 370 Cat when I could get a 570. Way more bang for the buck IMO...

I used to ride a 2000 z370 a couple back and I weighed about the same us you wife does... I could wind it up to 70 mph in ideal conditions...... I think it would be the perfect sled for a wife or child that doesnt do a lot of riding.... but im sure a 570 wouldnt be bad at all either... rock solid sleds.... hope you make a purchse and ur wife loves the sport  buttrock.gif :beerchug: :div20:

the 380 is slow. very frustrating sled if you want to go fast. 70 tops if your lucky. 60 usually. if she doesnt ride much go with the 380 but if she rides quite a bit go with the 550.

she loves to ride but the 583 is too big and heavy for her. I can get a new 550 for around 5000

I'd go with the 550 just for the fact that it has a little more top end for when she gets out on the open trail or lakes and has to try and keep up with you but also it won't be as fast as the liquid sled she has now and will definatly be lighter

Out of all the Ski-Doo fans which one is most reliable? (including skandic fans) 250 single, 440 twin, 380 twin, and 550 twin?

Hows the gas milage on fans?

FYI the new 550cc fan (2005) in the REV dyno's at 60+hp right out of the crate @6400rpm and with some tuning you can get 72hp...not the 53hp that some guy was trying to B.S. members of DOOTALK (or he was mis-informed ?)
I had the 500fan many years ago...bulletproof, nice trail engine.
Fuel milage ? I don't remember but she would like it better than the 380.
Go for the 550.
