I stopped by the VAST booth at the Springfield Ma snowmobile show this past weekend and asked Matt the trail assistant for Vast about Trail 102 north of the "trail rest stop". As you might recall approx. 13,000 acres were sold just before the start of the season last year in the NEK. For a week Rte 102 north of the rest stop, trail 2 east of the rest stop, 102F and Rte 1 were closed due to the purchase. VAST and the club worked out a deal to open 102, 2 and Rte 1 but Rte 102F remained closed for the season.
Matt didn't have any real details, but he did say that there was going to be an issue again this year. He had heard that 102 north of the rest area could be closed for logging and 102F would be reopened to keep the corridor connection.
I also asked him about the rail bed being pulled up and apparently there was a bid acceptance error and there is now a lawsuit from one of the loosing contractors. The lawsuit has delayed the start of the project.
I guess we will have to see what comes of all this as we get closer to December 20th.
