Decided I am buying an SLP pipe. Will I be happy running just the 64g weights? THey told me thats a good set-up. I will have pipe, gutted air box and flowrights. How did you like just the 64g weights and everything else? What else is out there for flatlanders. Ride trails and lakes. Top end hopefully decent with good backshifting. Mainly ride trails 65% of the time and lakes 35%
pockets
You will want to run stock jetting, needle #3, and 440 mains. You should also do some other clutching, almond/red primary, red/dk. blue secondary, and helix change with the 10-64 weights.
ProX700man
I figured to start at 480 mains and work my way down from there. I will be running at -20* during the winter. What helix and whatnot. Will I feel a difference with the SLp setup, except jetting with just weights?
pockets
The 480's will be way too rich. With the airbox mods, you should not need richer than stock, as long as you run 91 octane all the time. For safety, go to 450, no need to go richer. If you run 480's, it will be slower than stock. With just weights, there will not be much difference, as you will not be loading the engine enough. For helix, team #420720 would work well for the riding you do. It is for reverse, if you add that to your machine later.
ProX700man
SO what are the specs on the helix i should run? Not putting reverse on.
So almond/red primary, red/dk. blue secondary? What kind of pull and topend can I expect?
pockets
It is a 66-46-42 (.46/.25/.25) and 70-48-44 (.46/.25/.25) cut. You will see a big improvement in acceleration, and possibly up to 5 mph increase in top speed. There are many other factors which come into play as far as top speed is concerned, mostly mechanical and air drag. The slight hp increase may not show big gains in top end, as once you are over 100 mph, it takes quite a bit more hp for every mph, or increase in mechanical efficiency.
racerdave
Pockets, which of those angles are you suggesting he run?
pockets
He can try both, but I would think the 70-48-44.
ProX700man
I will try out the 70-48-44 Helix. What springs do you recommend I should run for good backshifting and good pull up to top end? Since most of my riding is trails need backshifting to smoke em there too. Also, will this be a good helix on lakes and in the powder? Are the springs you recommend Polaris or TEAM springs? Also, where's a cheap place for a helix? Kinda on a budget now since i spent it all on the pipe. THanks you guys are great here.

If you like higher engagement and a little more snappieness, then use an almond/red primay (orange team) or if you want a lower engagement, use a poo almond/blue. Id use the almond/red primary with the team red/blue secondary spring. A team will always backshift well...No matter what I've done to mine, it always will. I'll sell you my 70/44.46-70/42.46 helix for $75 shipped (They are $110 new+shipping). Its in perfect shape and was what TEAM recommends for the 700VES.
ProX700man
I'll think about it. I can get them for $50 from SLP. Pockets, how much difference is there between the 66-46-42 - 70-48-44 and 70/44.46 -70/42.46 cut? If you were to buy either, which would you buy for best gains? Also, what team springs or polaris springs with the 66-46-42 - 70-48-44? Do you think my sled would gain topend with the one polaris nut has, or would the one you recommended do more? So what springs with what helix pocket told me to use?
nickels
The red/dk blue spring will work good with both. If you looking for straight line racing use the red/grey spring. What can you get for $50 from SLP? The team helix, if so you can you pick one up for me too.
ProX700man
red/bk blue from who? in primary or secondary? WEll mostly trails, but some lake pulls. So what spring for primary and which for secondary? Also, which helix would you choose of the two?
nickels
Red/blue is for the secondary, and from whoever you buy it from. Team makes the spring so if you get it from polaris it's still red/dk blue. Primary go with polaris almond/red or almond/blue. The red spring will have higher engagement. Between the 2 helix's I'm not sure. I use a 70/44, but team says there having better luck with the 66/44/.46/.25/.25 70/46/.46/.25/.25. I only can tell you from what I have used. All I can say is team has probably done more testing with the clutch then anyone else.
PolarisNut
The semi-progressive new team will have a stronger upshift in the midrange than the 70/44.46, but only by a little bit. I honestly doubt you'll be able to tell. I liked my 70/44 but am now running something different with my 660 motor. I doubt that you can get TEAM helixes for $50 new.
ProX700man
They are used, not new. ALso, around what RPM would engaugement be with the Red spring?
PolarisNut
depends on the weights. 64s...about 4600-4700rpm if you ease into it.
