in South Vt the main corridor route 7 runs threw an old close down ski area known as Snow Valley.

awebfire sent me this link about the ski area reopening:

http://www.nelsap.org/articles/snowvalleyrebirth.html/

Now there has been no news from vast so whats going on? The corridor used to go right up the ski slopes. The new owners do not have to let us use the trail any more and this could shut down a huge part of vast.

I think I'll email the gentelmen becuase no one seems to no anything about it. This could work out great becuase maybe we could ride to and use the base lodge!

Well anyone with info Please speak up.

PLEASE find out from V.A.S.T what club takes care of that part of the trail. Usually that club should be well aware of this situation, at least we are with our club area. One of the trail coordinators should approach the new land owner and have them sign a V.A.S.T. land owners form for permission. The club should handle this! Please call Alexis Nowalk (V.A.S.T. trails administrator) at 1-802-229-0005. :div20:
She is very helpful and you can visit: www.vtvast.org , also but she is real good!

Well no news was good news. The New owners accepted the idea of a main snowmobile corrididor going threw there property.

Route 7 will be slightly diverted to avoid skier traffic, but the folks at Green Mountain Trail Blazers have ok'ed the snowmobile route with the new owners!!
(I don't know if we can park there any more...)

That is good news as I use that route often. I can't see how they will get the place in shape to ski this year. It needs a lot of work.

i know that ski area...its right next to rt 11

and unless they tore down that building and put a new 1 up....i wouldnt worry about it

that thing was falling down the last few years

A lot of work has been done there. I am curious to know about the new route. It's in all of our interest to be respectful of the new owner since it's an important trail. maybe we can swap ski runs for a little snowmobile shuttling? :div20:

I stopped by there about a month ago, they are doing work there, saw cars in the upper parking lot and I think there were no trespassing signs at the little hut near the pond.

I wonder where the trail will go, maybe behind the old lodge, up near the parking lot and up the outer most trail?

Ride there quite a bit and if I ride there in December will give you an update. Does anyone know a member of the local club??

About 4 years ago my hubby and I stopped and helped a gentleman whom was grooming with a Scandic and had it buried in a skidder track, just a bit south of Snow Vally on the poleline his name was Charlie Stewart, I believe he was a member of the Green Mountain Climbers, Vast has a number for that club posted as 1-802-293-5920,, i'm not positive its the correct club, but is a place to start, btw, Charlie graduated to a Piston Bully, and I bust on him every time he just grins at me ,,lol

The club that grooms C7 in that area now is the Kelly's Stand Stompers, they use a Piston Bully and keep it parked at Jenks' Oasis. I think their number is in the book. KSS did a great job last season and Charlie Stuart was outstanding as well, hopefully Woodford will be better this season with a new trail master. Should be snowing there this week!
