Anyone here ride in Jacksonville VT or around there. My pops just hot a place in VT and want to find some people to ride with when i'm in vermont. I am new to the sport and would also love to know any cool places to go in southern Vermont. Aparently there is a trail that goes through our property all the way to Canada. How sick is that! And i heard Going on lake whitingham is a blast too.

There are a few feeder trails in Jacksonville that eventually hook up with the main VAST trails 9 and 7 which go through Woodford. 7 goes way up and yes, you can ride from Jacksonville to Canada. There was actually a fund raising ride last year that did the trip in one day!
Woodford almost always has more snow than anywhere in Vermont with the exception of the northeastern part of the state.
The lake is fun to ride too but you have to know when and where it's safe.

My last ride of the season on Monday March 22nd was in Woodford (it was the first time I was there). Just to reiterate
DJSF7's comment, we came home from the NEK that Saturday before in a rainstorm that seemed to end the season everywhere in VT. But come to find out, it was snowing non-stop in Woodford during that rainstorm.
My wife thought I was out of my mind because there wasn't even evidence that there had ever been snow in VT on our way there. Here are some shots of that ride:

The trails around Jacksonville are on the VAST map as corridor trails but you'll find them seldom groomed and rather narrow. I'm not knocking them, this is a matter of fact. The conditions are not what you'll find in Northern Vermont mostly due to warmer temps not lack of snow. The better trails throughout the state are the ones that are made on seasonal roads or rail beds as these are well drained and smooth to begin with. The trails around Jacksonville are mostly cut thru the woods and found ocassionally under a powerline. You might be surprised to find better conditions just south of the border in MA.

If you go south in to mass It gets real bad. No marked trails, the do not groom they use drags, if they do. I ride out of woodford VT and it 's great GO NORTH.
