Let's do it again and head to Norton this time. I hear the Northland has closed in Cannan( anyone hear if that's true?)
How about the second Saturday in January?
I'm definitely planning it again, and Norton sounds great. Jan 1 is a saturday, I'm thinking that the 8th is risky for weather....how about the 15th?

I just spoke with Paul Jackson (with the Canaan Border Riders) and the Northland Restaurant will be open as of October 1st. It will be staying in the family of the previous owner. I think his daughter bought it.
I would really like to see these guys stay in business as the Canaan area seems to be some of the best riding around and the Northland is a mainstay of the town. I hope they do okay.

That is great news about the Northland
The 15th of January sounds great- should we mark it on the calendar?

The only thing about the 15th, is that it is a holiday weekend and there will be alot of sleds out on the trails. Trails would be better on a non-holiday weekend IMO.
If no one cares then the 15th is great.

Actually ... it's almost the exact same distance from here to Tug Hill, as it is from here to Island Pond. The ride to tug hill is a little faster because the roads are better. It also depends on where on the hill I go. I usually stay at "The Edge" hotel in Lyons Falls, NY. In good snow conditions I can cut about 20-30 minutes off the drive by staying somewhere closer.
