Ive' got an 02 800 that does not want to start unless the throttle is cracked open just a touch. The switches in the throttle visually seem ok. How do you test and adjust? The sled pulls hard anyway so keeping the throttle on is a pain. Any advise would be nice.

your not the only one with this problem. Its more then likely just the lack of air to draw the fuel out of the bowls, I have a 2001 800 it does the same thing! The 01 is the hardest polaris sled to pull over, it didnt have decompression hole in the jugs like the later models and I have a high compression head on it... I turned the idle up to 1600~1800 rpm this helps but some time I still have to pull it over 1 handed and gas it at the same time.

My 2003 does the same thing, i think they all do. I also turned up the idle on mine but still have to open it up a little sometimes. One thing that i noticed is after the sleds sits for 10 minutes or so I don't have to give it any throttle. Whats the deal there?

I guess know one has a fix for this start problem. Would be nice cause this sled is a bitch to start one handed some times

Same thing with mine and my buddies 01xc8.
Have to hold the throttle just a crack.
and yes that 01 XC8 is tough to pull over.

Glenn at EPI says that if a sled is hard to start and has a lean idle to turn the air bleed screw in. (1/4 turn at a time I suppose). :beer2:

That does not make sense to me though. When I shut the sled down for about 10-15 minutes and it cools a little the sled will start very easy, wouldn't this be a lean condition after it cools? I't only when I shut it down for just a few minute that i have to give it a little throtle to start. Anyone else??
