I wanted to take a few minutes out of this summer to fast forward us to winter.

You may or may not know that the Wisconsin Governors Snowmobile Recreation council is meeting July 19th, and 20th to discuss may things and 1 large item is the concern with our states snowmobile OWI’s.

- July 19th the Law Enforcement Committee will convene and discuss the OWI tie-in issue.
- The full S.R.C council meets on July 20th and the OWI tie-in issue will be discussed again and voted on.

Below is what has proposed:

- Tie-in of all Recreational Vehicle OWI violations for a period of 5 years, with loss of Rec. Vehicle Operating Privileges.
- Unify all the penalties, including an enhancer for underage passengers, absolute sobriety under age 21, mandatory alcohol assessment and mandatory safety education.
- A second OWI on a Rec. Vehicle within 5 years will be criminal and will result in suspension of a person's motor vehicle driver's license.
- New motion: It will also be counted as a second offense if the person's motor vehicle license is currently revoked or suspended for OWI in a motor vehicle.

I have created a group on Facebook called; Safe and Sober: Wisconsin Snowmobilers United. Facebook Group Link
This is only 1 of many things that I have been doing over the past year to show my support in trying to make our trails safer.

Please go out check out what we have posted and join the group and show your support as we will reference this in our meetings on the 19th and the 20th.

If you do not agree with the posting or the agenda thank you for reading anyways!

Wisconsin has classes for OWI violations on a snowmobile, or do you expect violators to be preach about OWI in a car/truck from some duche that has never seen a snowmobile?

The rest of it I agree with.

I think that making stronger laws wont do anything unless they can inforce it. With cuts all over the cuntry this will be hard to do. This will generate money so it will pass for sure, thats all that really matters to the left wing. I also think this law will make people more prone to run, this is bad for everyone on the trail.

I wouldnt necessarily say these are stronger laws, but stricter penaties. You drink, you drive, nothing of any concequence (right now, i think $720 ticket and a ride *cough* home) happens in terms of penaties in wisconsin and this is set to change it.

Many of the local guys here never even register their sleds.

Each week the paper here reports DWI/OWI by folks who have as many as 10 drunk driving offenses in their cars, they still drive their cars. It's nuts.
