Has any body run a 50 to 1 ratio in 70s sleds that call for 20 to 1.Amsoil teck says its ok ,id feel better if you have tried it with good results.Dont need to learn the hard way.

There should be no problem running 50:1 mix in your sled with a good synthetic oil
10 years ago i had a 1982 john deer spit fire free air and ran the amsoil 100:1 mix in it for a whole season with Know problems

I ran 50 to 1 Amsoil in a couple old sleds with zero problems, I also use it in my chainsaw, weedeater, anything premix.

I also run Amsoil in all my vintage machines, 70:1 is how I mix it, and haven't had 1 problem....2 kohlers & 1 Kawi motor still running strong

I think that 50:1 is a bit strong, but that's just my opinion, 20:1 is overkill, remember that oil (even non synthetic) has progressed greatly since the early 70's

I own a 1986 honda 250r 3 wheeler that was designed to run 20 to 1 it even says so on the tank. The last i had it overhauled(about ten years ago) the dealer told me to run 40 to 1 cause the new oils are so much better that if i ran 20 to 1 it would burn down.

I run 40 to 1 in all my pre mix 2 strokes now and have no trouble. I also use non-oxygenated fuel just to be on the safe side.

50 to 1 will work ok but i know many people that have dyno tests showing that 20 to 1 and higher ratios ie more oil will give you 2-3 more hp. in most sleds that doesnt make a difference but in a max performance application thats the difference between first and last. I aslo do believe that parts wear will be reduced useing more oil. you should use as much oil as your ignition can handle. you have to correct your jetting of course.
