I'm looking to put a clutch kit in my 04 SuperSport. I'm having hard time finding a company that makes one specifically for my sled. Hot Seat Performance will put one together for me, for what I'm looking for, but they need to know what it has in it now. I've found out what springs it has and I think I've found the weights, but I can't seem to find out what the helix angle is at. I've checked everywhere I can think of, other than taking it apart (which I would rather not do, seeing as how I'll be having someone that knows what they're doing, install the clutch kit for me). Does anyone have any idea how I can find this out? Or maybe someone knows of a reputable company that would have a clutch kit already put together for my sled with the PERC and electric start. I'm looking to get more in the mid-range. (top end also would be a bonus)

IMO stay with Hot Seat for a put together kit. They nailed my 95 RXL (w/xtra 12 suspension) clutching perfect when no one else would even try!
The dealer or your under hood sticker should have the current helix angle, it usually has to be changed for high altitude riding, so if it's clutched for sea level you have a 99% chance that's the helix in there.

Another good choice if they have them. :div20: I had to use Hot Seat before when NO ONE offered what I needed. :banghead:

You have a straight 40' Team helix with electronic reverse according to Polaris. Part #5133887. The secondary spring is a Team Red/Blue (140-200 lbs.). Weights are 10-62. Primary spring is Dark blue/White (120-310 lbs.). Gearing is 19-39 with a 72 pitch chain. I find it hard to believe that Polaris put in a straight 40 degree angle helix, but that is what their manuals say. All you have to do to find the correct angle is take your belt off, take off the 9/16" bolt holding the secondary on and slide it off the shaft. Look on the back side of the clutch and you will see the Polaris part number and the helix angle number stamped into the backside of the helix. You dont have to take apart the clutch. I hope this helps you out. All the items I listed above are for 0-3000' in elevation.

Another question......I need to figure out what the RPM's on my sled top out at, in order to get the clutch kit. That wasn't something I paid too much attention to last year, so now I'm stumped. I would hate to just guess. What would be the most accurate way to find that out, without having to wait until riding season gets here? Could I check this by running it while its on the suspension stand and see where the RPM's do top out at or would this not be accurate enough? Thanks again, in advance. :banghead: :help:

EPI is the best.

. If they don't have a kit that works for ya. Call the tech center. They'll try to figure something out for ya. Good luck.

I tried calling EPI for a clutch kit for my sled and they don't have one available. They told me that they haven't tested the 04 Super Sport yet, so they will not have a kit available for this year. I've put a call into Hot Seat Performance, but they are supposed to get back to me. I called them on Monday, so I hope I hear back from them soon.

I would personally try an almond/blue primary and a 54/40.46 helix with the stock red/blue spring. I cant see why it wouldnt pull the 54 starting angle, especially with that gearing, small lug track and light weight. I think that motor makes peak power around 7000rpm...not sure how different it is now that it has an actual expansion chamber in the pipe.
