I read where there is a major lawsuit facing the Quebec trail system to the tune of 46 million.. It stated that no trail shall pass within 1000 feet of a dwelling..??.. If something isn't resolved this would be detramental to their trails..... What can be done to help ??????? I read this in the Keystone Snowmobiler. I believe it was heard at the International snowmobile assc. meeting. I will post exactly what was printed Monday or sooner.

ooh4.gif I have e-mailed two individuals "in the know" that reside in Quebec. Waiting to hear from them......

There is some truth to this, I have heard similar facts. Hopefully the money paid for trail passes will help buy the best lawyers to stop this foolishness.

Be interesting to know what the snowmobile tourism industry is worth to the province of Quebec ??

I am sure that will be considered.

There is always some a-hole or group of a-holes trying to make a buck through the legal system! :frech32:

Ok, this is what I am told is going on. There is a train track trail that goes from St.- Agathe to Mount Laurier and this old train track goes to close to peoples houses.
The complaint is that homeowners are being disrupted by all of the sled traffic.
Now it appears that the gov. is going to have to fork out major $$ to build a new trail some 100 miles long to avoid the homeowners who are complaining. Problem seems small but we all know what happens when a "door" is opened. Lets hope this is all there is to it. :frech32:

ooh4.gif Now that you mention the rail bed, I know what the problem is. That rail bed passes alot of houses, but it's the Mont-Tremblant area that people are getting pissed. The have like a 30 km/h speed limit throught Tremblant and your like 100 feet from houses. Last year for the first time on the rail bed a certain part you weren't allowed to ride between 11:00pm and 6:00am???? dunno.gif

I'd hate to lose the rail bed, it's bad enough in the summer time it's for bicycles only. I didn't think it was that serious, I didn't think anything of it. I guess it's bad to assume the trails will be there next year :banghead:

Thats old news, the lawsuit has been around for over two season's. The first time and the second time around we won ! the train tracks or petite train du nord trail system brings in mega $$$$$ every season and is always one of the first places to start the season .
The case was won by us snomobilers beacause the land in question doesnt belong to any of the homeowner's in question but still belongs to goverment. From what i know thier only a handfull of old funnyduddies that are complainnig...
How long ago was this printed ???

Another option for the old rail system would be to rerail the path and have the train running again ! This might really happen, ive seen it on a local tv station and its also been talked about to bring in tourist from montreal to MT. Tremblant. and Mt. Laurier..

About two weeks ago. But it was discussed at the International snowmobile congress meeting......

It isn't the Mont Tremblant landowners, it is the folks in the middle of the trail between Ste Agathe and Tremblant that are the real frustrated ones. I don't remember which town.

This rail trail gets TONS and TONS of use. We're talking in the hundreds and on weekends thousands of sleds per day. All day.

I can't say I blame the folks for wanting a curfew. I personally wouldn't want sleds zooming 100 mph past my house at 2 am.

I hope a balance can be worked out between all parties.

Loud Pipes close trails!
