Wow, Baker lake, what latitude are you at? around 60? Still have 24hr of sunlight, or are you getting a little twilight now?
Maybe we should have a contest for the furthest north member? For a free HCS sticker. :beerchug:

what I mean is there anybody else from Nunavut territory. which community do u ride in? What machine do ride? How is it pulling a(tow sleigh) which we use to tow everything from hunting supplies,caribou,seal,walrus,arctic-char,lake trout, and family.etc. Hey rob I hope I'm the only one who enters your contest here. since there's 3 of us from my community that are registered in this awsome site! We are slowly losing our 24 hour daylight and it is starting to get darker each night. Finally get to see stars at night

our cordinates is at 64. 19'N, 96.02'W...
It is Pretty much Geographical Centre Of Canada. P.S Rob Could I get a HCS sticker anyways

Hey finnish_guy how is it riding up in your area? is the snow rock solid too?is the temp around -40celcius too? :beerchug:

Riding usually starts in late december and lasts till easter. The Gulf Stream somehow finds its way here and warms the west coast so that you need to up north if you want to ride after easter. Snow is not rock solid but pretty hard...

In winter temperature is usually around -10C and can drop near -40C.

Yes, we are pretty far north. The northermost (hope the spelling was right

) point is 70°5'30'' N
We have a cabin up there (about 68°54’ N 27°01’ E) Easter is the best time for sledding there. Long days and a lot of snow.

Ok Iqaluit guys we are hoping to be able to set up our own forum for the snowmobile club. This will help to notify people of up coming events and my own selfish reason.... more people to ride with on those days when you're off and your friends can't come out to play, work, wife, whatever. That way you would just post a message.... couple of us are going for a ride @ 2pm, if you want to go meet at the gas bar. With any luck a few people will show up. Hopefully I’ll have it up and running for the winter.

I think that is a good idea. A great idea actually. I have quite a bit of people I would be able to invite. Still got at least 2 months to think about it until the White Gold comes.

Hey,
If you want, I can set you up your own -category- on www.iglu.ca
This site is owned by me, dedicated to the Rankin Inlet Snowmobile Clubs.
Lemme know, and I'll set you up.
I dunno how -fast- the site will come up for you. But once the broadband comes about, should be no real prob.

Thanks. I've been to your site before checking out the snowcross pics and you have a nice site. I will speak to the prez when he gets back in town but I'm going out shortly after so it could be a month before you hear from me again. I'm a hardware guy so I don't have much of a clue about this end of it but I did have a couple of guys lined up to help out. Sounds like a great idea! Thanks.

i worked a trouble ticket with the police station at Baker Lake. I never went up but I had to arrange to get parts flown in to replace the damaged CPIC terminal that was there. Man that was about 20 years ago. Baker Lake. That stuck with me because when it said Lake I had to look it up. It was like holy crap. they have a police sttion there. How many people in Baker Lake now? That is North Dude. We need to get some of the Military guys stationed at Alert to join on here, its the furthest inhabited area in Canada if not mistaken.

I've been a member here for a few months but haven't downloaded a pic of my awesome sled yet.
I'm originally from Chesterfield Inlet and living in Cambridge Bay now. Iqaluktutiaq (Cambay) is an great town with awesome people. I've been here 2 years now and don't plan on leaving anytime soon.
Great to see fellow Nunavut-miuts, and others who love snowmobiling on this site.
I ride an '06 Mach Z Adrenaline. When I ran it stock, it reached 106 mph. At 2007 Cambridge Bay Frolics (Radar Run) it reached 116 mph (clutch kit and performance pipe) but my top speed so far is 118. This sled loves the lake and nowhere does it perform better than on it.

Fellow Iqalummiut right here! Only my second post so just saying hello. I'm finally going hunting tomorrow, can't wait! Anyone know what happened to the Nunavut Snow Challenge? I heard it was stopped because insurance was too expensive? I wonder if anyone is still trying to get it started again? Anyone who raced in this knows it was a great race and should keep happening every year.
