Hi guys,

I am considering a move to Fort Mcmurray Alberta to work in the tar sands. I was just curious what the trail system is like up there. Are there groomed signed trails? If there are how far do they go? Can you ride south to the Cold Lake area or east into Saskatchewan? What is the winter like? I have heard it is very cold which sounds great, but does it snow a lot? When are the trails open and how long do they stay open? Thanks for any replies to this post.

we don'r really have any high qual trail set ups the only groomed trail i know of is from a very popular sledding spot called the Snye to Anzac a little place outside of town everything i ride is river and pipelines and trapper lines
there is endless trails if u take these just be with someone who knows their way
winters can get really cold -40 C some times but i usually averages from -15C to -25C trail are never closed or opened at cetain date except for the one groomed one
it is prety much open territory
weather has been pretty wacky lately but we always get enough snow you just have to wait for it and most of the time we do get a few big dumps that are really fun to play in
but one thing is forsure it will not be hard to find sledding partners cause i am serious when i say that when u drive down any street here that ever second or thrid house will have 1 or 2 snowmobiles in the driveway or garage there are so many here
but good luck on ur move give me a shout if u move up cause i could help show u around the trails a bit

yah..

snowmobileing here I think is great..

there is a trail system, called the sno drifters. i dont kno how many kms of trails they have but I think its quite a bit.

but yah lots of snowmobiles here. wont be hard finding people to ride with.
I mostly just leave from my house, which i dont suggest doing..

good luck on the move.. stuff is a little pricey here. thats cause people make good money at the plants.
so they pay full retail for everything, by down south,, word of advice. and dont deal with four seasons.. unless you like spending every dime you have on a sled.. lol.

yah need a riding buddy gimmie a shout.
