I'm replacing my stock track this year, was concerned about track depth with picks? Any suggestions on aftermarket tracks?

I have heard of a guy with a rip saw (1.25") with picks on a mach 1 or Z, just have to make sure you have the smaller wheels up top so the track doesn't rub on the coolers. a good 1" track might be safer though...... m2c.gif

With that sled I would go no bigger than 1 inch lug and stud it with 192 ---- 1 1/4. Their is just no point in owning a muscle sled with a .X track on it.

hey muckzilla, you might want to check with your dealer about your track. I thought skee doo had a recall on 97 &98 tracks. good luck to ya. m2c.gif

On the CK3 chassis's....1.75" is the deepest lug track you can go. not sure how the studs come into play

Do you currently have pipes on your 98? If not I would recommend snagging a pair. The 98 Mach Z's had a very restrictive pipe problem dealing with heat. So basically your Z isnt seeing its full potential. Wish I could tell you more, but I wont lie to ya, I dont know the full scoop but I do know that much.

Here's what I have seen with friends that have replaced their tracks:

1" Camoplast Challenger w/ studs = Awesome, good top end track and does well on the trails.

1.25" unstudded = Awesome.
1.25" w/ studs = Awesome, but need to keep track very tight to avoid tunnel damage. Also consider HRP frame protectors, and HRP's tunnel protectors (nice and wide..)

1.5" unstudded = Awesome.
1.5" w/ studs = I wouldn't even think about it..

My one friend with his 2000 Mach Z w/ a studded RipSaw (192 studs down the middle) likes it on the trails, but is down probably a good 10 mph on top speed. He can only run about 105-110 mph max (he never had a problem hitting 120-125 mph on the speedo before with the stock .88" track w/ 192 studs). Last time I talked with him he was going to pull out the studs and see what that does for him. I was over at his house while he had the suspension completely out, and there wasn't a single mark on the tunnel or bulkhead after about 3000 miles since he put on the RipSaw track & studs. He's running the HRP tunnel protectors and front bulkhead protectors, he also runs the track very tight.

I was told a Challenger 1" track with 168-192 studs will be a great all around track for the Mach Z/Mach 1's. They are also about 3-4lbs lighter than the OEM .88" track.

I'd have to disagree with that. Firstly, 1.25" is not a snowcross track anymore. My opinion is that the more lug you have, the less studding you need, which saves you weight in the end. I'd go for ripsaw or 9818 (1.25") with 168-192 studs.
