Hello Blade Owners, I am glad to see this site. I would like to see some discussion on Blade snowmobiles. Likes, dislikes, problems, etc. I have had a Blade for 3 years and 7000 miles. Great sled with very little problems. I am looking to install an extension kit and add a 136 in track for added traction. Any thoughts. Jim

Don't hesitate to post your questions in the Polaris forum since Blade sleds are run by Polaris motors.

Also if you have pics, I'd like to see that thing in action. Get's us excited ylsuper.gif

Jim,
I have a Blade Striker 136 x 1.25.
I think you will love the 136", I do. It's great on trail and offers
a little more floatation off the trail.
Do you have the stock button secondary or did you add a TEAM?

Mine is still not broken in yet, only put about 250 miles on but
love it so far.
Did you make any other changes from stock?

MinnBobber

Where are you from, where do you ride? It would be nice to ride
with another Blade sometime.

It would be nice just to see one once on the trails. I have yet to around here. Always heard lots about them but never seen one in action.

I have ran into the Blade on the trails many times on a weekend basis up here but then again our clubs trail goes right through the parking lot at FAST at there R&D shop. Girard is also a member of our club and we do our maintenence work on our groomer and Drag at there shop also. I have had many chances to ride the Blade and all I could say was that if I could afford one I would buy one in a fraction of a heartbeat..... ylsuper.gif

I have seen a couple on the trail riding together. Didn't get much of a look though. They were flying.

Stupid question, but are they still making Blade sleds?

Yes. Just talked to my AC dealer yesterday. He does not own an AC sled for himself, he rides a Blade. He also sells them, but states they have no real dealer network to speak of, so they build them on order. Says he wouldn't consider riding anything else. His has only a 600, and he states he's not first in the straights, but is waiting for everyone else in the woods / twisties and bumps. I'd love to try one, just don't want to pay for one!

I must say, I'm impressed with the front end and clutching concepts. Looks like the future to me.

Do they really take steroids, they sure look like it.

Serious, they are a sweet looking sled------- Hail to the Blade!

yes they are still making blades, i see more and more each time i walk into fast, these guys put time and effort in these sleds, and it pays off, i wish there was more on the trail so word could get out more

I am also a Blade owner. I have a 2002 1WX 121" track. I now have about 3000 miles on it and I absolutely love it.

Last year I had Fast (at the factory where they made my Blade) lengthen it out to 136". I like it better that way.

Kevin Beilke from Snow Tech magazine has a Blade too! We talked about his several times and he said it was the finest machine he had ever ridden! So I went out and bought one!

Kevin was right. The Blade has the finest ride of anything I have ever ridden, and it is extremely reliable.

Fast has a program where you can send your sled back to the factory during the summer and they will go thru the entire sled and replace anything needed to bring it back to new condition (without having to buy a new sled each year!)

My sled is there now and I had them replace all the bearings and bushing in the suspension and drive line. Next year I am going to have them upgrade me to a new Polaris motor with detination control DCS, and install the Polaris electronic reverse. The way it is going, I may not need to buy a new sled for 10 years!

Awesome sleds................I think they're do for a styling update though!
I admire those guys for not caving in on there price of the sled, they must truly believe in there selling price to have held the line!

I've heard a lot of different price tags on the Blade... up to 16k.

I'm just curious, not being a smart ass, what is so special about them????

Everyone boasts a great ride but that's all I've heard, what sets these sleds apart from the other 4 top guys out there????

I saw one at a local shop a few weeks ago and they do look smooth suspension wise.... lots of moving parts.

Just curious, let me know!!!

I have a 2003 Hylander 700 VES. I can honestly say that I have owned every brand. This year I got the wife a Yamaha 4-stroke. I love my Blade, problem is everyone wants to ride it! That means I have to ride their outdated uncomfortable sled, which I can't stand riding. Once you ride a Blade, you will never go back!

We should start BRA, Blade Riders Association. What do you think?

I want one, they are sweet, this summer I will have to look into them seriously. :div20:

I dont get the big deal either. You could put an M10 in anything & it would ride awesome. Thats the only advantage I see to it. But its 2x the price? Not worth it IMO for a Polaris in Blades clothing. Am I way off base here? Not bashing, just dont understand why they are worth it....bragging rights?

ArcticFX, the M-10 rear suspension is only one part of the Blade. Slapping an M10 on another brand does not make it a Blade. The tubular chassis and front RAD suspension and comp-link stabilizer are what really makes a Blade what it is. Other brands have rear suspensions that come close to an M10 or maybe even equal it but no other sled EVEN COMES CLOSE to the front suspension and chassis on the Blade. They are not even in the same league- in my opinion.
I'll try to post some pics.

P.S. I tried a second post but orig screen says, global space left 3.05 mb.
When I try to add pic I get, ... file spce is greater than per post limit
or global limit. Any ideas what I can do?
Thanks

i dunno...the way u guys r talkin, makes them sound elite, but for 16000 i could make any sled elite. buy a brand new apex for 9500, and with 6500 left over, im sure i could make ride, perform, and outstyle the blade. i havent seen one on the trail. saw them in person...look kinda weird. but just a different sled, same concept. how r they for fixing...i know if my sled has any problmes i go to the nearest yamaha dealer, but what bout blade dealers? hard to get parts? i woudl think so but havent had any first hand experience. sounds to me like buyin a landrover, when i only need an explorer :augen41:

I can assure you that there is no way you could make a Yamaha or Polaris or Ski-doo or Cat ride and handle like a Blade because there is nothing that the other 4 brands have in the front suspension that could make them handle the way a Blade does. I personally do not own a Blade but I live only a few miles from the man who built them "Girard Karpik", and I have ridden them quite a bit. I also have ridden all the other brands and believe me there is no way to even compare the other 4 to it. It is like riding a sled on rails literally, it goes where you point it and handles any bump you will ever encounter on a trail and keeps going where you point it in the bumps where as the other 4 will dart and push and wear you out trying to keep them on the trail, After you ride one you will defianately wish you had one, and the M-10 and M-12 and M-16 rear skids are top notch and like was said the other 4 have rear skids that are close to them, they are still not the same and still not able to give you a ride like it...

done a ton of mods to mine and cant ride anything else any more and I own a firecat an Apex Gt an 800 yiper and a CMX 1220

Just agreed to buy a used blade 03'or 04' 800 with @250 miles  . Had the privilege to ride one a few years ago at a demo ride.Wow they were awesome. But out of the price range.

Is the mfg. date stamped on the tunnel?
What paper work, manuals or other might I ask the original owner for?
What compression should it pull?
Can I trust a Polaris dealer for service?
What other questions should I ask?
Other sources of info?
I would have preferred the 136" but it's still a BLADE! :celebrating:
It's going to be a long three day's ( till pick up).
Then It's going to be a long time till the trails open.
arctic-cat-kid
they look different not bad just different i aint gonna judge tell i try one from what you guys are saying they do sound purrty sweet but its all about the rider and how they like the feal of the sled
MinnBobber
spo,
check your PM's. You indicated you'd prefer a 136" Blade. I have two Blades and am just getting ready to sell one. It's a Striker 700 136" with JACK quick adjust rear susp and the $1000 Ohlins shock upgrade. 500 miles.
MSRP was $18,700. I'm looking for a little under 50% of the MSRP price, haven't figured out exactly what to ask yet.

PM has my phone numbers and email addy or PM me back.
Thanks
IMO the 136" has the best ride/handling/traction combo but I think I'm keeping the 151" as I'm doing more mtn riding these days.
Thanks
I can email you pictures if you send me your email addy.

Now you've got me thinking.. Wow1.gif God some times I hate this site..

I too have a blade, what did they charge for the 136 conversion ?

Thanks

I am also a stoked up Blade Owner, I paid $4500 for mine if you can believe it. It is an 02 700 with Ohlins, It has the carbon fiber pan and hood and there wes a bit of Gelcoat chipping off so they let it go cheap. It was a dealer demo at Delano sport center in Delano, MN. It cost me about 50 bucks and some of my time to fix it now it looks good as new. So I got a 16,000 sled for dirt cheap.

The ride quality on this sled is second to none even the Ski Doo and Polaris models. Hell they stole the suspension ideas from FAST why do you think they are so good. I think FAST tried to or is still attempting to sue Ski doo for Patent infringement or something and they did a technology exchange with polaris.

Anyways if you can find one buy one if for nothing else to see the confused looks on people faces as you scream by them on the trail. It is a major conversation piece everywhere I take it. Plain and simple it rocks and I am looking for another one for the right price.

I will post some pictures later, they are on my other laptop
