How many trips out here do you make in a year ? :div20:
RDJ
The main areas I ride in are Revelstoke, Valemount, McBride and Crowfoot (Shuswap). I usually take 3 vacations per season, last year I made it 4. Each trip lasts between 5 to 10 days. I live in Northern Alberta, if I was closer I would ride more frequently. I tried going for 2 weeks many years ago, but the body gets beaten up after 11 consecutive days, and believe it or not, you can get bored doing the same thing day after day.

I'm working on taking a trip this winter. ylsuper.gif Gotta get my funds in order.

RDJ ever made it out to the coast to ride or do you just ride inland ? Journeyjohn where do you plan to ride when you come out ?
journeyjohn
I was hoping you can tell me the best place. I've seen pictures from out there and we don't have that kind of terrain in Quebec. I was thinking Whistler but it might be too expensive. If you know of a area that is cheaper, to stay and for rental. I would greatly appreciate it. Just Pm me.

I have read about the pembina glacier/icefields, whatever they are called, it escapes me at the moment. Talking to some of my riding buddies, there is some interest in heading further west, but no firm plans yet. I have ridden as far south as Sparwood/Fernie, north to McBride, and the furthest west would probably have to be Clearwater (small area).

As far as Journeyjohn asking for the best place, there are many excellent places to ride, but there is a reason that Revelstoke gets so much ink in the magazines. You can find just about any type of riding there (skill level), and you also have a reasonable sized town to stay in. Prices are all over the place, depending on where you stay and what you eat, but as expected, they don't give anything away. You do realize what B.C. stands for?

Bring Cash.

Just a word of caution though, most people who try mountain riding for the first time think that the previous 30 years of experience riding flatlands means something when you go to the mountains. I know I thought that 11 years ago when I first went. Let me tell you, I put on such a goon show on my first trip, people are still talking about it from time to time. Admittedly, some are faster learners than others, but be prepared to be humbled. By no means do I intend to scare you off, I highly recommend that you try it, but it will be a learning experience.

By the way, what part of Montreal are you from? I was born In Ville LaSalle, but did most of my growing up on the west island (Pincourt). I came out west when I was 25.

West Islander also.......Dollard des Ormeaux....lived here all my life.I ride around Mont Tremblant. Done some mountain riding but nothing like the mountains out west. I'm willing to learn, so that's the best way to start anyway. ylsuper.gif

If you are a good rider and quick learner you will do fine. The key is keeping your momentum up and being fast on your feet for when you have to change postions.

Yea I am planning on riding out there a LOT this year, oh hold on I live in BC so I guess I have no choice!!

doober what part of B.C are you from ?

Hey Guys... I rode Revelstoke last june and the snow line was at the end of the roads up Boulder and Frisby. It was an amazing trip. Some boys and myself want to go out there this coming april. If you know of somwhere different to ride that is about the same distance for us let me know. :beer2:
Sledhound
I think it really depends on if you take a guide with you, if you do you will have to ride where there are set up. If you don't then you can pretty much ride where ever you want few good areas are Golden, crows pass, sicamous, Revy are all good and then there is coastal areas like Coquihalla lakes, Whistler, Pemberton ice fields, Brohm ridge and there are a few others but those are the bigger areas.
Swinfard
A friend of mine lives in Pemberton... This pic is from last April, I make the journey once a year.. Needless to say this year won't be any different..
heyzeus

I will be going to whistler in Feb. I have rode in the Big Horns is it that much differnt or is it kinda the same?
blue_by_you
I understand completely when you say it's a different kinda of riding out there, I was out in Revy in June with Kornbloom, and it was like learning how to ride all over again, but definatly a great experience, and some AMAZING scenery, hopefully I can make it out there again in the near future. flag_canada.gif

Got out for my first ride on the new sled sunday, 6 inches at load zone at 3600 feet but three + up top of the mountain at 6600 feet. Rained all day so was soaked by the end of the day, snow was wet and heavy made for some tricky rideing. Sled ran sweet all day was soooooo good to get back out riding buttrock.gif

This will be my first year hitting the hills. No snow around here anymore. Been into the sno-x thing for the last 4 years,(sleddin since birth), but getting a little to old and a previous MX crash opened my eyes to a few things. I just picked up a 03 summit 800 h.o still in the crate and lookin very forward to headen out to revy and Valemont as soon as the mods are complete. Riden the hills Im sure will be a different adrenaline rush from bangin bars. ylsuper.gif

I just got my first sled ever and I'm in love!!!! 1luvu.gif But time to start with the Modz now that it's broken in... I have 400km's in the last month, and was fortunate enough to have 60+ cm in 24hr's.. I Choked on Pow till I was Blue in the Face!!! buttrock.gif
