I have a 1997 Ultra 700 that I just finished rebuilding. I am leaking antifreeze out of the weep hole drop by drop. I replaced the water pump seals and made sure the gaskets were on right.
WHAT IS CAUSING THIS....IM LOST MY MIND!!!

It's also known as the bleed hole i think. Not sure why fluid leaks out of it....thats what I am trying to find out.

You have to tell where the hole is exactly located. If you put the the gasket on wrong, that could be your problem...rip and down and do it again, thats all i can say...it might be easy, it might not, but find the problem.

Seal must not be properly installed in the water pump. Disassemble and do it again.

I don't know how the seal can be incorrectly installed. I'll take it to precision power and have them look at it.
What exactly does the weep hole do?

after you finished the repair, did you run the sled to seat in the seals? they are made of ceramic and the slightest bit of crap can make them leak!

You mean that I may need to just run the sled for a little while and it may go away???
It's leaking drop be drop.

The reason you have a weephole is in case the seal goes bad, the antifreeze will have someplace to go and not to go inside the engine. My best guess is that if youre still leaking, like UltraGN stated, youre not sealing properly. I would disassemble and press it back on more carefully - if it still leaks, its possible your seal is bad. WL.

My IS 700 speed run sled did the same thing. I rebuilt the waterpump and that took care of the problem. Riley

Hey!
My 97 indy 500 also has a very slow coolant leak. I think I've narrowed down the location, but I don't know what the part is called. Having a tough time finding any relevant info on the net....AND THEN I FOUND THIS THREAD!!!! Hoping this is it...
So man, tell me...where is this weep hole you're talking about?
the suspected location of my leak is on the block, under a flexible rubber thing that's about an inch in diameter and 1/8" thick. This rubber thing is situated on the front of the block, midway up and to the left (recoil side).
The thing is, my sled has not been rebuilt.
Water pump problem maybe?

97 Indy 500, I think you are referring to the rubber plug for the crankcase which covers the timing mark access. On your sled, if it is leaking, possible cyl gasket, or if the water pump is leaking, it needs to be rebuilt. The problem is that the parts were not available separately, maybe they are now.

Awesome!
pockets, that's the most help I've had online since I started digging - thanks a lot man...
I managed to get a hold of the guy who does the major work on my sled and he thought it was the same part too. Also thinks it's the water pump but I guess he'll find out when he tears it down.
Thanks so much for info - really really appreciated. Cheers bud... :beerchug:
