Does everybody backup their pictures?

I have all of mine on my hard drive and back them up on a USB memory stick.

The only downfall is that I only backup reduced size pics in an attempt to save space.

I back mine on CD. Definately the way to go!

If you have a lot of big files you can buy an external hard drive cheap for backups. That's what I use. Quicker than burning CDs.

I will back mine up on a DVD soon. I have them on multiple hard drives right now and I usually burn a CD of the picture ocassion.

When we (the family) got road runner service I set up a wireless network in the home for 4 computers. For a few months now I have been wanting to pick-up a stand alone network harddrive. A few weeks ago i received a flyer in the mail from Micro Center for an Ximeta 180GB Stand Alone. I have that wired to my switch and now I just dump the files :div20: from my notebook to that and when I get enough for a CDR I burn it to that also. I also ripped about 450 audio CD's and have those mp3 files on that also for my iPods. :div20:

I have all my photos on my server as well as on CD's and external HD at home. Everythig is being backed up all the time and it is nice to have on the server can I can access from anywhere. Yahoo has a nice setup for a digital photo galley. I just have my own on my website. grinning-smiley-023.gif

Store on first hard drive and back up on second drive. Also burn to DVD disk every month. DVD will hold tons of pics.

Well, solved my problem. Bought a 160GB external hard drive today for $179.99. Can't wait to try it out. luxhello.gif

I use another method for backups. Mirror the system disk. You can get a RAID controller for a reasonable price. All you want it do is RAID 1. This is called a mirror set. It copys your system drive. You can mirror your system disk or another drive.(that would be three drives) Most PC’s can handle the power requirements for two drives. Your mirror set would have to be two identical drives. My system disk at home is a mirror set. Don't have to back up anything. If one craps out the other takes over. Replace the broken drive and it gets copied automatically. You can take this a step further with RAID 5 but that will take three drives and one is a hot spare. Don't even have to take system down till you have the new drive to replace the broken one.
