One of the ideas I had to get this new forum off the ground was to have a few weekly photo contests. Now before anyone gets too excited, the prize(s) will be a HCS sticker worth a whopping $4.75. The main idea is to get guys taking and posting pictures.

The "contests" are for new pictures only, taken after each contest's start. At the beginning of each week (monday) I'll post a topic, like family, pets, cars, etc., and then the object would be to take and post a digital picture that fits into the weekly theme. It is meant to give everyone that participates a little practice with their cameras. Hopefully it will be fun and a learning experience at the same time, and even make the hot summer months go a little faster.


For this first week the subject is your personal vehicle. Try taking a bunch of pictures, keep in mind fundamentals like lighting and composition, and post the best one to the new digital photo gallery. The only rule is it should be a NEW picture and not one from last week or last year. On monday the 24th admin will pick a winner and he/she will receive a HCS sticker. Also a new subject will be picked then for the next weekly contest.

I think digital enhancements would be fine, but not a substitute for a good picture to start with. Try using both

This is a very cool idea, I'll look for this every week.

Photos look good so far, keep them coming.

Watch your lighting and composition. Look at car/truck brochures to get ideas. Think about backgrounds, make it as simple as possible. Get the sun behind you rather than shooting into the sun. Try to avoid including sky in your photo, as that will darken your subject unless you compansate the exposure. Try taking pics early or late, near sunset/sunrise for best lighting.

Yeah, I think the photo contests are dead now... Not enough time i guess.. Maybe its possible for another member other than Rob to get things kicking in the Camera Forum.
