It says one of my drivers isnt working, but when i go through all the motions and updates its still not right. any one got any clue. its so big i can only see 1/4 of the true screen.

basically: go to manufacturers website ->service/support->downloads/drivers->download and install video driver for your model

Windows ME was horrible to begin width... turn off active desktop!
-make sure you enough free hard drive space
-run MSCONFIG and shut down all unnecessary startup programs
-use a program like Cleanup to delete 'junk' from your drive

hard drive.. just pick up a seagate or western digital.. your machine is probably ide.. (wide flate ribbon cable plugs into back of drive.. like 2.5" or so wide.. sata would be a small thin cable like 1/2")

Tekguy, how do you know what are unnecessary startup programs? and "running" programs that could be shut down is that doable?

can be tough to tell if your not familiar.. but if you rurn something off you need its as easy as running msconfig again and checking it back off and rebooting computer.. so dont worry about messing something up

Turn off all the flashy stuff too. Right click "My Computer", left click "Properties", click the "Advanced" tab, you'll see Performance, click "Settings" off to the right of that. Turn all that crap off.

Perform a disk cleanup:

Start | My Computer | right click C: Drive, click properties, click Disk cleanup, check boxes to remove everything. You can remove system restore points as well.

Perform Disk Defragment:

Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Defragmenter. Turn off your screensaver too so that it doesn't stop the defrag process.

All of these things will speed it up.
