I had posted this in the ZRT/TCat forum, but didn't get any help.....
Trying to use a 3" riser.Throttle cable too short.Installed PowerMadd throttle cable extension.
Now for the problem:
With the cable forming a big loop (not tied down),the sled runs fine.
When I tie it down, the sled wants to shoot to the moon.
PowerMadd has been no help--they just sent a picture of how it should be installed, which it is installed correctly.
I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this?No matter how or where I try to tie the cable down, the RPMs go through the roof.
I'm close to pulling the riser back off and having a friend cut and mill an inch off it-I heard 2" will work w/o an extension.
Thanks--Steve

don't know if this will help, but kind of had a similiar problem when I added a riser on my zr 700. my throttle would be fine til I tried to turn too sharp, then the sled would just take off. My solution was to cut all the cable ties and run cable little different, a little looser. seems that the turn would tighten the cable. I would just experiment with tying it down, make sure your throttle extension moves freely, it could just be stuck good luck

I just put a 5 1/2 inch pivot adapter/riser on my 98ZR, and with the factory cable routing, the throttle would open when I turned hard right. I took the throttle cable loose at the thumb lever, cut all the zipties, and played around with the routing til I found one that worked. I did not use a cable extension. I did have to trim the opening of the steering shaft cover molding (the piece that the ignition switch is in) with a razor knife to get sufficient clearance.
Hope this helps.

is the cable to long now? R u tieing it down with a zip tie. your probobly pinching the cable. iwas racing snocross a couple years ago and i had throttle cable issues. the cable melted a little bit and it was making the cable stick when i hit the throttle. check over cable and make sure it is not damaged. Put the snowmobile up on a stand, then start it up. while you hit the throttle move the throttle cable around. see were the cable is getting hung up. let me no how you make out, Jeff

Thanks for the replies.I found a company that makes extended throttle and brake cables and have emailed back and forth. The guy assures me that his cable (for a Poo triple) will work for me--if not, money back.
It's 6" longer than stock.I don't know if it's cool to mention the company on here,so if anyone wants the info,PM me.
I had tried all different ways of routing and tying down the cable with the extension with no luck.I've had 4 friends come over with varying degrees of mechanical backgrounds and left them scratching their heads.
With the riser I have and the extension installed,it's just plain too long.I think if I had gone with a 6" riser,it might work, but 3" is what I wanted.Had I known it was going to be such a pain,I would have left it stock....
