Okay, I can really see this topic heading south, but here we go.
I’ve always thought that I want a F7… and maybe I still do, but I’m wondering if I should be checking out F6’s.
I currently ride a 1990 Polaris 650 triple. My ridding partners ride a 2000 ski-doo and two other guys ride 2005 and 2006 Arctic Cat 660 turbos. So I’m certain that either a F6 or F7 will rip compared to what I’m riding now (not taking anything away from my triple the thing hauls with a ½" lug and worn studs).
We ride a mixed bag of trails and side roads in northern lower Michigan (maybe a bit more trail than dirt roads). We’ll ride 100 – 200 miles in a day.
So do I need an F7? Physically I’m 29 years old 5’-9” and 230 lbs.
I guess the only real reason I’d consider a F6 is if there is concrete evidence that I will save a substantial amount of money using less gas and oil with a F6 versus a F7. I’ve also heard that the F6 will hang with the F7 until after 70 mph, then the F7 will pull away.
So… what are everyone’s thoughts? Do I really need a F7?
Thanks for any advice,
-Matt

i think you'd be happy with either one. look around and see where the better deals are. i've seen f6's take there bigger brothers on more than one occasion so i wouldn't worry about the 600 not holding its own.

Explain this a little more? Are they geared taller or what? Clutched for lower R's???

A person of your size may benefit fuel wise with the F7. The reason being that the more powerful motor won't have to work as hard to pull you around.
I'm 180 and my crew chief is 250. The difference in performance of the same machine would blow your mind. Example; me on my ZRT 800 and him on his T-Cat we are side-by-side from holeshot to top end. Switch machines and I put alot of distance between us and it keeps growing up top.
With that in mind, you would probably need the F7 to keep up with a 180 lb rider on an F6. How big are the others in your group?

Little brother is probably 185 lbs soaking wet and uncles are larger than me on their turbos.
I guess this takes care of my question.
Long story short, I won't save any money in gas or oil by dropping down to the F6.
Thanks for everything,
