Hello
My name is Steve and I am Trail Master for the Brownville Snowmobile Club System and as some of you know we had to shut down early last year because of insufficient funding to continue. Well we have good news, the state has raised our funding level to a place where I don't see that happening again. My hat is off to the Department of Conservation, to anyone of to who may have sent letters or placed money into our donation jars, and to the Appalachian Mountain Club for their letter of support for additional funding. Also I would like to add that this probably would not have been possible without the increase in the registration fee that is being paid this year. The DOC also raised the equipment rates which should go along ways to helping the clubs with the increase in fuel costs. So come on up and ride the Brownville system this year, my guess is that it is going to be better than ever before. Thanks for the help

Steve

MY EXACT POST !! Last year we were stuck in Brownville for 3 hours! We went by the same intersection 3 times!! FInally asked where the freeking trail was and it as behind some big garage building or something.. Man.. we all laughed about it later, however that night we were beyond ticked off !!

Hey snowrider 1 thanks for the news, always good to get some info like that from a trail master. Keep up the great work.

over the years of riding thats been my biggest complaint in mot having good enough signage for people who are not from the area and at night its alot worse for sure. used to ride up to white cap in the spring and it was always fun and hard to get to the top. keep up the good work. ps i love how the atv trails go right thru the main streets.

Every year we put up more signs than the last but apparently not enough. I am going to make an effort to resign the connector this year to help with the problem. I hope it helps.

I did some riding there mid season last year and it was some AWESOME riding. I was sorry to hear on here toward the end of the season that all grooming had stopped. Good luck this year and keep up that same grooming schedule, it was spot on!

Hey Steve its Ted Williams, I am some glad to hear the news!!! Some of you might not realize that once you go out of Brownville north there is some sweet off trail riding and Steve and his guys make it a pleasure to get to (not to mention grooming right in front of the camp beer_cheers.gif ) and yes I am a member there and two other clubs. But what I want to know Steve is did you guys ever cut a trail or find a new connection to Sebec? Give me some dates on when you guys are going to do trail work and I should be able to make it up to help out, I am real handy with a chain saw (and have my own) and have been looking for an excuse to use the wheeler. Let me know and maybe I can get up and spend a weekend at camp with family and do something good. In fact Steve you should post it here and then all of HCS can find out .... I really dont know why all the clubs dont do that. Oh and thanks for the wright up in the MSA paper!

Hey Ted
We have got the permissions all lined up and have a machine lined up to destump amd derock the trail from hell. I dont think there will be much brushing to do but we defintely have other sections of trail to brush out. We will be working on the B-pond trail on October 5 at 9:00. We will be meeting on Mian street in Brownville Junction and leaving from there so that will put us at the B-pond Trail about 9:40 or so. We will have a large crew and everyone is bringing food, so if anyone wants to come feel free, bring a dish and we will all have a good time and some good food. Other areas that are in need of brushing fro this year are the trail to Smiths resturamnt and the lakeview trail to ITS83. I will keep you infomred as to when the work date is set for these. Nice hearing from you Ted.

Hey Steve I thought I would bring this back to the top, and try to find out when you were going to be doing more trail work weekends. My season is winding down and I want to get up for a trail work day or two, wouldnt hurt to actually use my four tired arctic cat either! getlost.png

I have riding friends in Lagrange.. and we have been going from Lagrange to Joe Mary and Millinocket the last couple of years. So we go right bye brownville for the most part. Hope to do it again a few times this year. Hopefully we will not get so lost this time if we swing into brownville for a loop.

We meet at my house at 8:00 am every Sunday. Anyone that is interested in helping us out let me know and i will give more detail on what we are doing that weekend. After hunting season is over we will start working on Saturday. We made over 400 signs this weekend so expect more signs. Let me know.
