I got a free 1982 yamaha maxim xj650j the bike was jumped and dumped and crashed smashed evrything in the past but was put away running and complete so i got that the wiring was junk idk how it ws running it would for me so i pulled that wiring harness and needed to find another so i bougtht a parts bike for 350 bucks it was complete and very nice it turned over but had no spark to one of the coils the other worked fine..and the main fuse popped and smoked?.. so i pulled that wiring harness after doing everything i could and replacing so many parts.. only to find that there was no imperfections in that wiring/?.. so now both are torn down and i have to shitboxes that both have no wires the one i boguht is rusted to hell and looks like crap the other has no rust and is very nice so i wanted to use the parts from the bike i bought and put them on the one that was jumped like the motor but the motor i now find out was seized once so i dont want to switch but the motor in the one i got for free has broken teeth on the primary drive shaft and its a 349 dollar part but in the bike i bought i could take it out and put it in the bike that was jumped. only problem is i have to split both motors in half to get at it.. taking the head and pistons and case evrything.. very stupid ass design.. and it is incredibly hard to even find a way to get the motors out because the damn drive shaft is just impossible to dissconnect and the swingarm willlll! not come off its just getting stripped so now im fucked with to peices of crap,,, no wires no running just crap and 350 dollars out.. can i fix the motor on the one with the broken teeth?? and somehow find a wiring harness hook it up get it together and then go.. ? i know i screwed myself but im going to fix this because it means something to me now and because they both pissed me off so much i just want to get them running. thanks you.-tyler

Hate to tell you but toys cost $$$$ to buy and operate. You either bite the bullet and buy the parts you need or find one in a junkyard (like you did already). Just remember that if you spend mega bucks on the bike it's only worth so much after it's working and that may end up way more than it's worth in this case.
Sounds to me like you have two parts bikes and should be looking for a better condition model for use.
