Dates have been set for the 2008 major brushing & signing.

Dates are Oct 18th & 25th. Meet 8am at the Super 8 on US-2 in St. Ignace.

Rooms discounts will be available at the Super 8 & Budget Host for those helping out.

We can use all the help we can get for this. The Forrest Service has again removed all of the signs & posts in FFS land, which will be a ton of work to put back up. On top of that, the ATVs have destroyed the majority of signs on the RR grade from St. Ignace to Trout Lake. Combined this is over 1/2 of the total signs on our trails!

Of course, there are also always trees to be killed too!

Post up here, or PM me if you are interested in helping out.

Trust me, all Neil cares about are chainsaws. Cut down anything in sight. Right Neil????

Hope all of you can make it up to help. I went last year to help for the first time. Really enjoyed myself, met some great people, and came away feeling that I gave something back to the sport.
Those 30 pc. tool kits help the day go faster also!!!

I always tried to help the area(s) that I predominately ride in. I have attended most of Biskit's Brushing events in the past. But his was cancelled this year because of differences that still remain with small town politics and the good ol' boys club mentality, so my loyalty to the club in that area is done. I will continue to support the businesses in that area as I will continue to ride there. But I will only volunteer my time to clubs and areas that don't have their heads up their asses and are solely concerned with making the trails safe and enjoyable as opposed to how can I screw my neighbor and fill up my motel and/or bar.

Sorry I won't be able to help the Iggy area this year Neil, as I'm busy with TASA the week before the first and have something going on for the second date. There's always next year.

No Prob T-Bone, you are always welcome around here.

On another note:
Through October and November, we could also utilize someone with tractor driving skills. The guy I had lined up and volunteered to do pre-season grading on all our trails blew out his knee, and is having surgery on both at the same time, so he is out of the groomer until January.

The majority of my groomer drivers are working full time right now, and don't have a lot of extra time to do trail grading, so I may be in need of preseason trail grader people. Our groomers are very powerful and can rip the backblade right off it, not to mention take down a 12" tree like it isn't even there, so I will only put somebody in the machine that has experience in grading equipment or our specific groomer. Please PM me if you are interested.

You can bring ATV's, those with baskets and/or small trailers to carry equipment. Or just drive your truck down the trail, our trails are plenty wide enough.

Chainsaws, gas, bar oil, spare chain & plug.

Gas operated pole saw, the club has a few of these.

Battery operated drill drivers, with a spare battery.

Gas operated post hole augers, club also has a few.

Hammer, screwdrivers, handy bar, shovel.

I also bring a toolbox in case something needs repair.

Rain gear if it gets wet. Boots, gloves, raincoat, etc.

Main item: refreshments!

Looks like we will have a few guys for this weekend. We plan on forming 3 signing crews, and concentrating on that this weekend. If we have enough guys, we will send out some brushers too.

If heading this direction, I will recommend either the Super 8, or the Budget Host. Both are giving large discounts for guys coming up to help out. Tell them that you are coming up to work with the club when reserving or checking in, and they should get you a good deal.

Sat morning Club Breakfast at the truck stop on US-2, 7am. Workers meeting at Super 8 next door for assignments for the day. We generally plan on working until darkish, then cleaning up and meeting at Timmy Lees Pub for dinner and drinks. (There Will be club specials as well) Saturday lunch will be on your own this year, as the club will be picking up dinner. You should probably plan on having to pack the lunch as the crews will be not be near any towns this weekend for the majority of the day.

See you there,
-Neil

TTT with this.

We had a smallish crew last weekend that kicked butt. They put together a brushing/signing combo crew that took care of the Western 25% of our trails. That leaves 75 miles to do this weekend - if possible. Those that are coming up, please PM me with your name, # of people you are bringing, and Cell #, so I can compile a plan for this weekend. We need to get as much done as possible.

Thanks for those who helped out last weekend. If you would like to see some pics, jump over to our website!
