Just wanted to get a feel for how many folks are wearing chest protection now and how many folks are thinking about getting it. Its something that comes up in my safety training and yet its something that not many people seem to have or at least wear. Also there are many many folks that get seriously injured in the protection area offered by Tekvests and others.
When it happens to someone you know you really start thinking hard about getting one, after all those handle bars don't feel too good in the chest or stomach. I recently bought one for my wife and when my little guy is big enough he will have one for sure, its only a small cost for his safety, and I'm in the market myself.

I've been wearing one now for 4 seasons. We were up doing some spring riding one year and I was in the ditch riding when the snow gave way, needless to say the sled fell in nose first slamming me forward. I shatered the windshield knocking the wind out of myself. I had a bruise across my chest a couple of days later. Had one ever since and don't go riding without one. Even some of my buddies I ride with now have them. Like you said, handle bars in the chest or stomach doesn't really feel that good.

last year was the first year for me to be wearing a tec vest a little bit to get used to wearing but now that i'am over that don't think i would go sledding without one on now!!! i really think they are well worth every penny great investment !!!!

I started wearing one last year, got tired of listening to a certain HCS'er tell me to get one

No seriously, I figured I (somewhat) dodged a bullet on a recreational vehicle once, no sense pushing my luck !!! And they're actually very comfortable too, plus they give you that added confidence and safe feeling when riding, especially if you plan on having a lil fun. I've seen a few of the guys go through windshields quite often too (you know who you are

) , and they say it doesn't tickle, so I'll take their word for it. What it all comes down to is ya really just never know what might happen.....
As the ol saying goes, "better safe than sorry !"

For some reason I cannot vote. I have been wearing a Tekvest for 2 years now. I couldn't go without one on now.

Third year coming up with the TekVest.
Got a MX protector for the bike in the summer, but don't ride it enough to talk about. It hasn't even been out of the basement yet this year.
If I was buying again, I'd likely do more research on them. The TekVest is decent, but is way warm unless it's way cold out, and you can really only wear sledding. There are protectors on the MX front that I'm sure you could wear 4 seasons. There is an air-chamber one, RXR, that I would seriously check out.

I wear my motocross chest protector. It's a thor as well, nice and light, you hardly know it's there. I also wear my motocross kidney belt, helps support the back a tonne, making it all that much more enjoyable on a long run.

503, you said your best was too warm, which Tekvest model do you have? I could see the super sport being warm for sure but the Freestyle or the pro lite looks like they would keep you cooler.

Been wearing one for 5 years, would rather ride without boots than w/o Tek Vest.
I was once asked by a lady rider if the Tek Vest was comfortable, I asked her if her bra was comfortable and would she go out without it.......

Well its funny you ask, I may be able to help you in the near future but quite a few details need to be worked out yet. I do the ATV and snowmobile training and its a great fit for me to help get them in the hands of those who need and want them, plus its important to me that Nova Scotia has the best price in the market. Hopefully I will have more info I can release soon.

Well things are pretty much worked out and Tekvest will be coming to Nova Scotia.
I'm getting ready to place an order this week and was wondering if anyone had any special requests. I was initially going to buy various sizes and two styles of vests to start, and once sized I can always order a special type if necessary. The pricing will be the best on the market based on what I have found to date, cheaper than Ebay once you calculate in exchange rate, shipping and border fees. Best part is you won't be paying $30 US per vest to ship from the states, so you will save even more.
If anyone is interested PM me. For coordination purposed talk to your friends about it too, I could do drops in areas or even to clubs.

Which tekvest do most of you wear? I'm getting ready to make an order and I think the Freestyle vest is the most universal for Snowmobilers and ATV folks, so I will be getting a few of them for sure in different sizes for folks to try on. I'm also going to get a Super sport which is the most popular snowmobile vest with its warmth.
Do many people wear the top of the line Pro-lite vest?

PM me with which type and approximate size, I just put an order in on Friday and a bunch coming and plan to order more soon. One of the guys said "at that price I'll take one for sure" so I think i'm pretty competitive.
I also order one of each size for kids for the guys who want them for their kids. The goes right down to 30lbs (which is good for wee little ones)

I have been wearing a Tek Vest now for 2 1/2 seasons, after breaking three ribs snowmobiling in Bathurst, NB.

I purchased a TEKVEST.
Wear it with a jacket from TEKVEST.
The owner really knows his stuff.
For example, jacket has less insulation in chest, since tekvest insulates.
The owner thinks about every part of the body and how it works under movement (ie sweat). Air vents galore.
I had a Tekvest, put it in closet during break in of sled (not going too fast during breakin period - what can go wrong?). At 50 miles on the odometer, hit brakes, and went into a 360 degree spin (glare ice on road, with fresh snow on top). During next 360 degree spin, caught edge and lauched myself sideways. New cowling, windshield, mirror, brake, etc. About $500 damage. Dealer said it happens all the time (new owners..). In my defence, all prior sleds had studs. I wanted to get a feel for sled with deeper lugs on track before putting studs in. Dooohhh.
The Tekvest, in my closet, was unscathed.
Never rode without the Tekvest again.

Just like NS503, I've had one for 3 or 4 years, very comfortable but can be very warm, have to plan what to wear under it or to loosen up/unzip when the day warms up. Take it off when someone needs help getting unstuck. I know I should have something for the ATV as well. I saw one racer at SLTGA wearing a vest for every race. A group standing near me were telling lots of crash stories and the reasons why they were going to invest; to avoid some of the pain in the future.

If you happen to see those folks looking to invest in a vest please tell them about this site. Just so everyone knows Purolator just dropped off my shipment of vests at my house today, I can't wait to get home and open the box. I will posts which vests I have available after I get the vests to those who have ordered them.

I bought an EVS MX Revo Lite Under Protector. Its is exactley what I wanted. Very light weight, offers great mild, to medium impact protection, cost is very cheap, and is not bulky.
I wouldnt being doing any freestyle Sno Cross with it.
I really only wanted something for handlebar protection if I crank a drift...
Its $59.95 from Parts Canada (where I work)

For sure, there are lots of types out there, but it all depends on the level of protection desired by the rider. There are god reason for the ban on MX protectors for organization snowmobile events though.

I had my first vest go to Quebec this week, one to St. John's last week and another going to Saint John NB when the order arrives. I also got pictures of the cutiest little tekvest user this week also, a fellow on here purchased one for his 3 yr old to wear on her mini Polaris sled this year.
I think the quality and safety a Tekvest provides is starting to catch on.

I need one. I have been using an original Saf-Jac from 1996 when I started racing snocross in the circuit. I hate it, I always hated it. I wore it on the first day of Cain's Quest '07 and have never worn it again. But this year they are mandatory. The thought of spending hours digging out in deep snow while wearing one of these things does not appeal to me at all. But I have no choice.
Which model should I get? My jackets are XXL and are already tight across the shoulders so even with an XXXL jacket I don't think I'll have much room to play with, considering all the layering you need in minus 40. Maybe the proper snocross one would be best. I was thinking a Trail Pro XXL or SX Pro XL ....
I guess most guys wear them underneath.
