Hey guys,
Looking to drop an 04 800 ves into my xr 440 chassis. What would the negatives be to running with the tps unplugged? Would I have to change carb settings, etc as well?

A ton of extra timing in the midrange that is not needed.

A engine that sounds like a bucket of marbles because its detonating.

What are your findings on a pump gas trail sled? Not a race sled or drag sled.

On my stock bore ported XCR 800 trail sled, (whew), if a race is close, I run it disconnected, I've never had a problem, forgot to hook it back up for about a week one time, seemed okay.
I do not own any stock sleds, so can't comment on a trail stocker.

I felt it reved quicker, but it banged and rattled alot, real bad with elivated h2o temps. Was not enough gain for the fear of destruction to leave it unplugged.

Plus Idle hung.

HMMM, my idle stayed the same either way, interesting.

Unplugging the tps adds like 10 degrees of timing at 2500 rpm, I could have played with carbs and richen them up alot. Just didn't see a gain with my setup.

This was on a twin by the way, not my tripple.
