Was about to purchase a new ignition switch (Simple 2 contact switch, no electric start) and key combo. Missing my original key. Someone mentioned that there are only like 3 keys manufactured for my ignition switch. Any truth to this? Could I simply order just the key? I have seen keys for my model for only 3 bucks (I assumed they were blanks) so if I can do this great! So if this is true, how do I know which key I need? Is there a number on the ignition switch? Or do I need to use the VIN at a dealer? Or do I just need to get a new switch with key? Any help is appreciated!

This is for 94 EXT 580 EFI

PS - If I do need a new switch/key combo, if anyone has one for sale let me know.

Thanks!

take your switch out and take it to the dealer they made i think 4 keys labled A B C D and try each one if they have them. you have a 1 and 4 chance in getting it right. or just unplug it and don't worry about a key

Ok, thanks for verifying! I had thought about just replacing it with a toggle switch, but I like the idea of still having a key. Doesnt seem too painful so Ill see how I make out. Thanks again!

Yeah, doesnt appear too far... I would guess about an hour give or take. Maybe you can clue me in to some good riding if you make it out to my area at all. I just rode on private land last season on a friends sled. Used to go up north years ago with friends, but its been awhile. Looking to find new places since I finally got a sled of my own for this season.
