The Nova Scotia OHV Task Forces interim report contains alot of recommendations that can/will change our sport in the province. It's important for ever sledder in this province to read the report and then fill out the online form and send your comments in. You have now until July 30th. If they don't differentiate between sleds and ATV's all the new regs will apply to us. I know just in our club we stand to lose a good portion of the 104 trail to the proposal concerning wilderness protection areas. The Task Force is not listening to SANS, sleds are as bad ATV's in the treehuggers eyes. If you belong to a club you probably know about this, if not, now's your chance. Go to http://www.gov.ns.ca/vp/ohv/ and check out the crap. I especially like the idea of 2 license plates, front and back, wouldn't that be great, NOT. 1 is bad enough, should go to registration numbers that go with the sled and that can be put on with a decal of your own design, likes boats or some US States. This is important guys, take 10 minutes and blast this report. Do them much beter to promote the sport rather than tryin to destroy it. r_c.gif imo.gif m2c.gif

^ 100%. I just came on here to start a thread about this stuff too. Well said Weiner. We've got to get on this or we will be sorry later. Everybody reading this shoudl be filling out that form, and getting all their friends to as well. Pretty soon we won't even be allowed to go for a walk in the woods.
Good work on that web site, by the way!!

Allready filled it out,was talking to a guy on Friday who is involed

from the wheels.I hope he is right...he certainly seems like the tide has changed
in our favour.

Jeez, that would almost make too much sense. It's definitely what we need and what should be done.

Caper is right, however we need more e-mails and letters sent in. I heard some figures on the number of written submissions the task force has recieved from sledders, bikers, and tree huggers. Letter from some snowmobilers could make a big difference. Get some friends to submit, every one sent in is one more opinion they will read and with this task force, numbers will dictate the direction.

Good to hear.
I got mine in sometime at end of the snomo season. Tried to take some time to get it sounding right. I just hope they listen to everyone's input. dunno.gif

Final report is out:

Final Report

Looks like they listened to SOME of what we had to say. The thing I see right now is when the registration fees go up to 50, the extra money to be 'held in trust for trails' will likely never make it to anything snowmobile related.

Ns 503 ,i just finished reading the report ...... like you stated US sledders will never see
that money ...for the most part the wheeler group is hit hard ....for me the only
concern is the age thing ...my young will drive again this year,he has a terkvest ,
dot shell 2000 helmet, and goes out under our watchful eye any way .All ready
had ins. for the last 15 years sledding....

Yeah I have a 4 and 7 year old that are now going to be illegal.
:augen41:
But thats OK, the little 50's I bought them in the spring aren't registered either !!!!

Once again they never ride with out being under my watchful eye, and proper protective equipment.

I see the report says $30.00 of every snowmobile registration goes directly to SANS. That may help.

As for the insurance and such, I am in the same boat as you Highlander...Always had it.

I would like to see those F-ing insurance companies stop jacking us though. The driver should be insured for PLPD and not the vehicle. I can't drive my truck, fourwheeler and snowmobile at the same time ????

Oops same boat as Caper...not Highlander!!!
