I lol'd at that one. Whats so fast about your truck. I think you have a ram right? 318 or 360? either way it may be quick but is by no means "fast"

If you look at it this way diesels are the new "tooners" every rich goon has one, yea sure they are pretty fast off the lot, but guys are buying "tuner" programmers for their trucks, exhaust pipes the size of a pinapple and cold air intakes as the usual stuff not to mention gawdy chrome rims that look like they belong on a cholo's low rider.

Lets look at import cars or "tuners" aside from the lame body kits and wings, guys and girls are putting on tuner programmers, exhaust can's the size of pineapples, and cold air intakes, not to mention the gawdy chrome rim that look like they belong on a cholo's low rider.

Im sure ive seen a few diesels with neons on them and a few with worst paint jobs I have ever seen.

Too the point though, muscle cars for the instant blood flow to the groin area, sports cars for when the straight away ends and all that blood goes to your heart and you have to turn without having a heart attack.
BluePoo800
My brother has a tuner, 3800 turbo (Camaro has gone 13.33 with 3.08 open rearend, but now has posi 3.42 so should be in 12's)

and the new tuners like misfit said my dads tuned duramax (has gone 14.60 in 4 wheel drive)

i would still take my muscle though (Nova has gone 13.55)

I have the 360, I know its not fast, but it takes the kids around here with cavaliers and neons that have a huge ass exhaust tips and think they are street racers. But i agree with the diesels being the new tuners. I know a couple guys that have big money into them. My friend and his dad are going to race, his dad has a viper and his goal is to be faster then the viper by the end of the summer. Right now he is running 13.5's

I must say that both those diesels posted are very tastefully done, lots of substance and the right amount of flash with out looking like attention whores beer_cheers.gif As far as beating on cavi's and neons, I say rock on man. I don't know wether to laugh or shake my head and avoid eye contact with the people who dress up compacts and other such cars that are a waste of upgrades.

Not saying that isn't cool but if you want to talk about that start you own fourm!!! This ones for import tuners. WOW... You do NOTTTTT even have a chance with that camaro!!!!!! A first gen camaro maybe but not the crappy 1980's camaros!!! Tuners rule the streets and that won't change, and thats real tuners..... not neons or family cars with 20's.

So heres some advice.... drive, as far as it will take ya, to a scrap yard, leave it, then go on ebay and look up supras, rx7s, 240sx and 350zs. Then come back on here and tell us how you feel about 1985 maroon chevy camaro. pee.gif

Let me guess.... His moms old handy down honda civic?? whatever it is i bet that 85 camaro does everything beter (did you notice it has a crate engine??)...besides mpg...
And those types of tuners you listed will never rule the streets, maybe the supra with the right things done to it (which you can do to anything), but you dont see many of them, but i really think your are just very confused.

I disagree 2jz, sr20det, vq35 all are VERY potent motors with massive potential.

Well thats the first i have ever heard of those motors....but massive potential is also in sbc, windsors, clevelands, duramax, cummins.
I have seen lots of tuners that have lots of money in them that could smoke a lot vehicles on the road but if you put money into about any engine it will go fast too.
I was just disagreeing that little tuner cars rule the streets.

I agree i grew up on american muscle and before i bought my lude spent 3 years searching for a cuda, the fact of the matter is for a everday driver now adays imports are hard to beat, reliability, and performance without sacraficing huge gas bills. But both have positives and negatives and both deserve respect

I was at the local 1/8 mile drags 2 weeks ago. I will post some vids on youtube eventually. All the cars there were late 70's camaros and like 30 late 80's early 90's mustangs, barracudas, gtos, beaumont, lemans, 60's mustangs, darts and other real muscle cars. No newer or "tuner" cars there. Lots were doing 115-130mph in 1/8 mile at 5.5-6.5 seconds. Anyway it was very cool to watch. THat was the first time I was at any drags. I was expecting to see more newer cars with turbos and such. But there wasn't. I was totally surprised. Will these "tuner" cars you guys are talking about pull these times off? I wish I could have take my 2003 silverado ss to try out. I know it wouldn't have been near as fast as these cars were. But it was bracket racing, so it doesn't really matter how fast you are as long as you are consistent you can win your class. My truck should do 75-80mph in the 1/8 at around 8sec. Wish I could afford a supercharger!

Just look at my profile.... thats my red eclipse rs and my friend that shares the user name on here has a 2001 eclipse gs. I'll post up pics later. My red 1997 eclipse looks alittle different now tho... been doin some work to her. But please keep in mind that this is my first project car... you got to start somewhere and for having 170,000 miles it kicks ass!!!

I prefer tuners mostly because my age and the other thing is that i don't have alot of time to restor a classic. However my uncle has a 1965 convertable mustang that i want to get but its only a 6 cyl. I through in a small black 8 cyl and some bigger rims and tires then shell be to my liking.
catdreamer626
Come on guys, theres got to be some more import tuners out there. I really didnt want a discussion, just wanted to see some cool pics of your rides.

This is my car.... should be starfire pearl white within a couple weeks.

i cant remeber where i saw it, but i was watching a tuner vs muscle car shoot out, i believe civics, supras, evos, and then there were vipers vettes, and some old muscle cars(60s) and im not tryin to start a fight but by the 3rd round there were no american cars left, i believe it was 1/4 mile drag and it was a couple years ago, but i know that the jap cars kicked ass. After saying that though i dont know how much each american car had done to it but they lost either way

I just recently picked up a 1990 honda civic dx hatchback, i love this thing!! I cant wait to start working on it. Its a project car, needs some body work. I'm planning on painting it either black, or blue. Havent quiet decided on colour yet. But it is a sweet ass car!

So are LSX motors, and in stock form much more potent than even a TT Supra.

It sure is. Came with a brand new clutch in it as well. And im not sure, i dont want to do the exterior up, becuase thats gay. I just want it to have a nice paint job and nice rims, then its all motor. But i need more cash befor i start that up. Haha

it takes a LOT to get any car to do 115-130 MPH in 1/8 mile, but lots of "tuner" cars are FWD and that is a huge strike against them.

Ya, i was thinking about it. I love the sound too! Or when the car fly's by you, sounds so good!
catdreamer626
They do sound awsome. My buddy has a 1997 eclipse with a catback apexi N1 exhaust and it sounds awwwssssommmmeeeeeee. It has such a low tone but when you get on it, it has a nice loud rasp. He has headers and a down pipe coming soon too. I have a catback HKS superdrager on my 2001 eclipse and it has a sweet low tone especially on the downshift. His rasp over powers my cars exhaust sooo much I can hear it in my car when im behind him with the radio on. Best investment ive made on my car, for sure!!!

Ya, for sure a weird ass name. But they are so nice. They sound so amazing. Its actully crazy loud! If i get one. Im expecting atleast a couple unnesessary noise tickets. But it comes with a silencer. So I would prolly just keep that in for the rides to school. lol
catdreamer626
Ya my buddys apexi came with a silencer, we tried one start up with it and that went off in a heartbeat!!! Im really looking to get a nissan 240sx the first gen beacuse I love the hatchbacks, but with the price of gas and insurence it might be awhile before I get enough cash to make that move.
polaris_rules
Ya, those for sure are sweet ass cars! But i'm looking for a buddyclub for my dx. I dunno if they make them for that year though, 1990 honda civic ef body style... I hope they do. lmao. but those 240sx are sweet, my friend is currently looking for one. I'd love a car like that, but im gunna stick with the civic for awhile. Cheap on gas!! smiley-faces7.gif

This is probobly true.. but im not doing much to this car. I'm just making it look half decent. And puttting that exhaust on it. Thats all. Then im gunna beat it up!
catdreamer626
Ya when your in your teen years and cant afford to buy some high dollar muscle car or cant afford the price of gas for a truck, tuners look pretty sweet. Maybe after I have finished with all my school and have a steady job I can think about a nice muscle car like a charger or GTO but for now on this buget I can make a tiny car look awsome IMO and make it make it hall ass as fast as I want to go. It might not sound like much but come to a few highschools these days see what the other kids are driving and it makes my eclipse look like a super car... unless mommy and daddy give then everything.
