Some folks still are convinced that the railroad in Downeast Maine will suddenly make a miracle recovery and somehow from some magical place businesses will spring forth needing freight moved and everyone will want to ride the railroad . . . honestly, some folks are still living in yester year. The fact that nothing has moved on this line for over two decades apparently is beside the point.

Feel free to vote in the poll . . . or put pen to paper to offer up your thoughts on why the Iron Horse will or will not make a comeback downeast . . . or why or why the rail trail will be helpful for some local businesses.

Ohh yea gotta love uneducated people trying to change things. I commented on the BDN site when it came out. I cant believe some of the people. They have no idea what they are talking about. Its not like the state just pulled an idea out of a hat. It was looked over, feisablity studies were done. They looked into every possible solution and this made the most since. Its just like a couple years ago they wanted to redo all the rails from Bangor to Ellsworth to cut down on traffic on route 1A. First off they spent millions on that study and the result was no railroad, because people would rather drive. There are very few passenger rails that make money. I understand the need to move a mass amount of people to cut down on emmissons but a bus would work. Then spend the money on the roads we all drive on. I cant wait till im 30 so i can run for gov. and change everything this state does.
