Hey guys,
I have been searching and searching for answers on here and really cant get a grasp for what I am after. I really want to pull my carbs off of my 2001 600 prox but dont want to hurt anything once I get out riding.
I am not knew to wrenching and basically get what goes on inside carbs in general, but I cannot look at mine on this machine and point out where my needles are, or my pajs, or my etc....
What carbs do I have? Is this something I should do, or bring it to the stealer ( I want to tackle this for myself and then be able to do it forever).
I am just nervous because I dont want to break my only sled.
I think if I know more about which carbs I have that will help me greatly. Do they make service manuals for my machine?
Thank you

Yes they do make a service manual for your machine, you can order at various sites online or go down to your dealer and buy it. It will be well worth your money, it gives detailed descriptions about tuning and performing many basic and more complicated maintenance procedures including to to disassemble and clean your carbeurators. I think this is easily something you could do just take your time, have a clean work area, and don't lose anything.

Probably one of the absolute best things you can do when taking something apart for the first time is to break out the digital camera and take a bunch of pics from every angle and also as your going thru the disassembly process too, so when you go to put it all back together you don't get halfway thru it and can't remember where something went. . .or have the dreaded "extra" screw or chek ball or whatever.. . . and yes .. just pay attention. .clean work area . .good lighting .. .carbs shouldn't be a major deal to get off and go thru .. . . .there's my 11 & 1/2 cents worth ..

Don't let the carbs intimidate you. They're a heck of alot easier to work on than you think. my .02

absoloutly , take your carbs apart and go through them, if your at all mechanically inclined, this it not rocket science,
especially in the summer, take your time , a manual helps a lot, this is a very expensivwe sport, doing your own work saves a ton of cash,
BUT the best thing of all, your out riding miles from home, something goes wrong ,;;
or as simple as it gets to warm out and it runs terrible,throw in some smaller mains jets on the side of trail, takes 10 minutes, and you dont wreck a good weekend,,
NOT EVERYONE is cut out to repair stuff,, dont bite off more then you can chew
