Last year my temp light came on, I replaced my temp sensor problem solved. I moved my sled this past weekend, when I started it the temp light was on again, imedently. Any ideas what else could set this sensor on, right off the bat?

thanks

I'm having the same problem with my 800. When I bought the sled the guy said the temp light stays on until the motor warms up and while the temp light was on it ran crappy when it warmed up the light would go off and would be nice and snappy like it should. My buddy ended up melting it down one day and I rebuilt the top half. Now when I start it it stays on no matter how warm it gets and it runs like crap. Even if I unplug the sensor it still stays on. I think mine is just a short somewhere but I think I need a new sensor. Let me know if you figure it out and I'll do the same if I figure it out. Maybe someone can help both of us!!! grin.png

The newer motors don't have a temp sensor that directly turns on the "idiot light" in the dash. Instead, the sensor sends actual temperature information (electrically) to the CDI module. The module decides when the motor is too hot, triggers the light and if the motor is really hot, it "stutters" the ignition to warn you and help cool the motor down. Obviously if the light is on all the time, the sensor could be bad. Also, unplugging the sensor automatically triggers the light and the ignition stutter, so unplugging it won't help troubleshoot anything. If the sensor is known to be good and the problem still happens, there is likely a wire or connector issue (broken, unplugged, corrosion disrupting the connection, etc.) Corrosion is expecially likely if the problem popped up after storage.

yeah I figured it was just a bad sensor but wanted some opinions before I started buying parts or diving into the wire harness. Thanks orville-x.
