Sprinkle household flour where ever you see them, non toxic to pets, and it will kill 'em.

great advice and thanks everyone.
local pest place said, if you can find the nest/coloney ( under dwelling in this case ) it can be killed with a simple can of raid, finding the nest is the hard part but we stumbled onto it.
will take all hints from above however - thanks

I've used a 50/50 mix of borax and sugar and it has worked. The workers eat it and bring it down to the queen and she dies, therefore the colony dies from what I have been told.

Yep, I think I got my borax at Superstore, it's in the laundry detergent area. I'm sure Home Depot would have it. I mixed it up in a pail and spread it on the ant hills by hand. Worked for me. It yellowed the grass some but I laid it on pretty thick, lol.

I already posted it.
Use simple household flour, non-toxic and it kills 'em,,,,I just cut a couple trees down this morning, full of ants, I poured flour on the hives, 2 hours later all dead or gone.

Ant bait in the tins could be ok.
