Looking to buy a couple of doo's with these engines, any body know anything abou them.

Thanks

Easy reply to that Q...........just look at how many for sale have rebuilt engines with low to no miles on em. The 500ss seems to be rock solid.

Hey Pussy!

Buy an 800 or go home! I hear them SDI don't get that good fuel milage?
See ya at the canyon this year I hope! lol

I have one and yes they do have some bottom end issues but I have about 6000 km and is still running strong and the next guy who says the 800 gets better gas milage is full of bs I have ridden with many 800 guys and not once has the gas milage even been close but what ever make you sleep at night

any way cheers and only about 5 months left cheers

I just bought a 600 SDI. The 600 and 800 are different. the bottom end in the 800 has some weight saving parts and that is the issue. The 600 sdi is as good as it gets.
amazing fuel mileage and oil consumption and reliability. Most of my buds ride them. never an issue.
New 800 etec is a different story as well.

I just traded in a 2004 GSX 600SDI that I used for 5 seasons. It was rock solid for the first 3. In the 4th I had to have an injector replaced ($200) and last winter the piston rings and 1 piston were replaced ($400). Other than normal maintenance that was the only work done on the machine so it was not bad for 5 years. I had just under 11,000 km over the 5 years. Gas mileage was great and I would get between 200 to 250 km per tank of gas. A buddy had an 800 and had to install a Buddy Tank to get the same range.

Buy a 500SS!! They are reliable, lots of power and cheap.
SDI Adrenaline
Have owned an 04 & 05 since new. 04 was sold last year with 22,000 kms. New pistons, rings, & one jug because of a stud through the heat exchanger at WOT for a couple of miles. Still going with a new owner.
05 has 19,000 kms and has not been touched. Great fuel and oil mileage, much better than the 500ss and a little bit faster.
Based on my experience with these sleds I would recommmend them to anyone.
As far as fuel comparissons go. Most of my riding now is with 2 03 800 Revs, wifes 05 SDI & my 08 800R
The SDI & 800R are very close & both blow away the 03 800s.

Get an 05, 06, or 07. There was little changes done to them after the 04 season as far as engine goes. There are great reliable engines. Super quick throttle responce, with boyesen rad valves. great mileage.

there's a few issues with plug fouling, intake boot delamination, injectors, bad rings, etc. get the updates done, v-force or boyesen reed cages, cudney pistons/rings, and hang on. great motor, just have a few minor gremlins. fuel mileage is the best out there next to the carb'd rx-1 motors, and they have great power. quick revving motor, great throttle response, and awesome oil consumption. i sold my 04 due to chassis problems from my riding style, but for practically anyone else they're rock solid. 500ss is a decent set-up as well.

This is gonna sound funny But! I can't come on here and say that my sled is the greatest thing when it comes to motor dependability (It did burn down once because a new wrist pin retainer cam out after two pistoleys and ring replacement for wear) but I am upside down happy with the performance, gas mileage, suspension performance and every little thing on my 04 sdi. the only sled I would even consider moving it for is a new IQ chassis, they are truly spectacular. As far as mileage, Only one sled I have EVER rode with has beat the mileage of my sdi, a Phaser. One day I did have an 07 800R beat me at the pumps by a buck and it is usually very close. Impressive for an 800. Newer sdi's seem better on fuel than mine however. good advice on the 500ss, they are overachievers in every category, speed, price, durability and fuel efficiency.

That was an 08 800r that beat you by a buck! Very impressive for an 800. But you are correct, not many touch them for fuel mileage! Go with the 800r! You wont be disappoint if your a Doo guy!

05 MXZ 600sdi blew up crank and all at about 7000kms....covered in full by Doo 2 weeks before the 2 yr engine warranty expired.

Other than that pretty good ride except they tend to bog down in heavy slush conditions on lakes unlike carbed 600's.....I suspect that is computer related when it senses stress...?

do u have the 08 updates done to your sdi?? i had mine updated to 07 specs and it got unreal mileage, quite a bit of a difference from every other sdi in my group. it was always fastest and got the best mileage. cudney pistons/rings, v-force reeds, and update is all it had done to it.
