I believe it's basicly a 600 cc Viper. How much did you pay?
yamahamer700
$2,300. It only has 784 miles on it. No rips or tears... a few scrathes on the hood but nothing major. I just had to have it but don't know much about the Venom's.

As long as its in good condition--you got a good deal -- nice little sled --the wife and kids LOVED ours !! It sounds like a million bucks --love those triples with single pipe--music to your ears !!the only thing that I did not like was the track--not very good off trail--as long as you stay on trail it was ok --off trail it sucks--change that and it would be the ultimate wife or kids sled--good gas mileage --good ride--looks cool--sounds cool --just enough motor to have fun with but will not over power you !! GOOD BUY--just my opinion !! Have FUN on it !!

My girlfriend has one and its a very reliable machine, it has 4200 miles now and the only maintaince we have done is carbides, and it will need new sliders for this year. She has clock it on the radar at 96 mph. Comparing the ride to my SRX its takes the bumps alot better, and the electric start and reverse is awsome. Once in a while i like taking it for a rip because it is so comfortable. The Track is not that bad, here in Ontario we had a lot of snow last year and it went everywhere. She bought it 2 years ago with 2000 miles and she paid double what you did, you got a very good deal and it will last for a long time.

AWESOME. Thanks for making me feel better. luxhello.gif

The stock clutching hugely overrevs. change the inner rivet in the stock weights from a .8 gram to a 4.5 gram & you will see 8500 rpm dead nutz on all day. The overrev condition will eat gas & crack ur primary clutch.

I don't think they are just a 600cc Viper. I believe the Venom is a redhead 600cc, which is basically a new version of the SXR. The chasis is the same as a Viper, but the engines are night and day. The Viper is a 700 power valve tripple with a single pipe, the Venom is a 600 non power valve tripple with a single pipe. My wife has a SXR 600 and it rides awsome and gets good gas mileage, you'll love your Venom, her SXR is awsome. I could be wrong but I think those are some of the differences between the Viper and the Venom.

The Venom has the exact same motor(as far as I know) as the SX and SXR 600 triple. The chassis is exactly like a Viper though. Listen to Turk's clutching advice, he is a genius with the Yami triples. $2300 is a decent deal, I wouldn't call it a great deal though. All that matters is that the sled was worth $2300 to YOU! Have fun with it.

its a very detuned motor. it is a sx style engine, if you want a little more power, you can drill the exaust, takes very little time, sounds great, better grunt in the mid rpms and a little up top. for more power, you can bolt a 700sx top end carbs and clutching on that bottom end. all else is the same.

great little sled. check out totallyamaha.com tech section for info on clutching and the muffler mod.
