hey this sideup what part of the poconos??? thats where im from . i would love to attend the one in august with one of my drag sleds but there was no info on the site about the one today what time do thay start and so on. Can anyone give details for the next one?
Ok........What I got from the P and VP was that the next event will be on the 24th of August rather than the 17th do to 'somebody being out of town'. I'm sure that is safe to say.....keep posted to the web site to be sure. YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS fun event. If you bring a sled or just watch....?...better to be riding....but....the whole family will enjoy the action and excitement.
We arrived there this past Sunday just about noon and the 'early birds' were already running the grass and getting 'gunned' unofficially. There were a few wide 'normal' ski stance modern sleds on the 'pond' doing straight line in and run about 150 yds or so and straight out to a slight grade on the other side of the pond. Then they would return the same way, except for a sailor on new F6 Cat that didn't like water and the skipper claimed he was attacked and sunk by 3 killer Carp! He claimed he woke the first one up....pizzed the 2nd on off and the 3rd one kicked his azz!!!
It was about 1330 and the Club started running the 'Oldie/vintage' sleds on the grass. It appeared you got two 'gunned runs' and they took your best or average time. The modern sleds followed with the same 2 run regiment.
After that the modern sleds ran the pond and that portion was not 'gunned'.............This water cross was for the guyz that had the ballz and the gals with knockers up that wanted to run on the water.
There was a 'young buck' on a polaris with a narrow ski stance set up for water who did one 'hell of a job' doing CC ovals.
His sidekick ran the straight line once and got a bad start or that band of killer carp got him on his return and sank. The land owner was 'sole recovery' on a Quad and was on 'the stick' as soon as a sled was under. He did an awesome job keeping things moving.
The owner of the Water Polaris got the machine rolled and drip dried and was out there on his 'twin pipes' but got robbed and sunk due to a broken throttle cable. Again the 'land owner' was there to get him out and over to the riders area to spin dry. For what it is worth...After 5 sleds went under I did not see any fuel or oil slics on the water surface.
The Club had GOOD food and bevs at a very reasonable cost. They had 4 trophies they presented 1 for the slowest oldie, 1 for the fastest oldie, 1 for the fastest modern sled on grass and one for the 'Big Splash'......this guy was on a 'Big Doo' making his return trip on the pond ...NO HANDS... and an attempt to THROTTLE WITH HIS TOES on his right foot?? That got him the 'Big Slash' Honorable mention.
All in all this was a no stress fun event. It was not an anal event ......all who attended had a great time. If this keeps up and we can have more events like this, we maybe able to get HSC to eliminate
I would sure like to see the Club try and hold some late winter 900ft Hill Climbs at 1, 2 , 3 , 4 , or 5 of our local resorts!!! Now that would round out the 360 ! Yes?
Kudos to The Club, cooks, ticket sellers, pickers, helpers, LAND OWNER and all who attended and made this all possible.
Godspeed,
