The Cat speedy seat, dose it mount over the factory seat???

I am picking up a 07 Jag and it has the Factory two up kit on it. The ad says "also comes with extra seat ,two up or single rider" I have never seen one up close.

Any help?

I have a 2009 Z1 coming and asked many sources about the Speed Seat. From what I understand, the regular seat is removed and the Speed Seat installed. It looks like a nice option, however, you lose the seat adjustment feature. Someone also wrote in this forum that the seat was quite a project to install. I was going to order a Cat Jack (www.industriesjack.com) two-up seat instead. I used one of them on my 01 Z440 and it worked great.

I also would like to know if anyone has any experience with the Arctic Cat Speed Seat. My sled will be used for my wife who rides with me all the time (she wanted the "sports car" instead of the two-up "Couch-on-skis" TZ1!). So if I cannot find out more specifics on the Speed Seat, I will be ordering a Cat Jack. By the way, it appears that the hand grips on the Speed Seat are more "meaty". However, neither seat comes standard with handgrip warmers. My plan is to connect add-on hand warmers w/mitts into the heated seat switch that the O9 Z1 LXR has standard.

Hope this helps and thanks to anyone who might have some thoughts on this subject.

I have the 2 up seat although i havent put it on it does replace the entire seat and does come with a back rest and hand grips.its quite the job to put it on.i seem to be having some rubbing issues on the rivets that get drilled out and bolts get put in so im going to take it to the dealer and have them put it on and see about that issue.it would be a little more costly but you could get the alum frame that the adjustable seat is mounted on and put it on the 2 up then just remove the 1 screw to slide it on and off with ease

Thanks for the info...it does sound like a lot of work. I still think I am going to go with the Seat Jack.

I picked up my new (to me) sled yesterday that started this thread in the first place. Let me say I don't know how much of a pain it is to put the kit on from the start but I will tell you it's a VERY nice setup. It takes about 10 minutes to swap over to the single seat and 6 bolts and only 2 are under the tunnel but you can get right to them. I had a Seat Jack on a ZL800 and this is so much better. You have the full use of your glove box and it is secure. VERY, VERY NICE

I had the cat seat on my 08 Z1 last year and liked it a lot. It only does take 10 minutes to change and is built very well. Prior to this seat I had a 01 ZRT with the 2 up seat and this seat up is by far much better. I would go with the cat seat.

I picked up a seat jack for one of my ZL's and hated it. It was for my wife and daughter to use. The Seat Jack put the back rider way to high and all most to tippy. I ended up selling it and put an adjustable back rest on. I would HIGHLY recommend the two up seat after seeing it. The other thing is you can get to the glove box.

Thanks for all the info...maybe we will get the Cat Speed Seat. The other thing I wanted to know about the Cat seat: Is the seating position for the driver the same as the single seat if the single was in the lowest position? My concern with the change in seats is to not be too "hunkered down" as on my old ZR chassis "4-Stroke Couch".

Not at all, granted I have not riding it on snow yet but with the two up on you sit as if you had the other set low. In my case a lot higher than on my old ZL. In fact it's pretty nice and I am sure I will use it with the two up seat on it by myself once in a while as the rear seat acts like a back rest.

On my ZL in was more comfortable to ride with my feet straight out, with the Jag they will be under me. I did ride a F1000 for a day last year and played with the seat height. Also someone on one of theses sites put all the hardware on to make the two up adjustable. I wouldn't recommend when you have a rider on as thats a lot of weight on that front bracket.

Thank you very much for the info. It was difficult to get any real "seat of the pants" opinions on the seat cause nobody had even seen it, let alone sat on it. I will be going to my dealer and ordering a Speed Seat. One more thing, is the backrest/handgrip assembly removable for one up riding?

Thanks,
Jeff

Yes, there are four bolts that go through a bracket that stays on the back of the tunnel. It comes off in about 5 min at the most. When you go to the dealer make sure you get the right one as they also offer one that looks like a seat jack. This one replaces your seat and to whole thing come in two boxes. 4639-451 Shop around you might get a better deal..

Thanks again for the great insight.

The one that looks like a seat jack only fits the crossfires not the f or jags. For the most part the riding position on 2-up seat is close to the lowest setting on the adjustable seat. It is worth switching to the adjustable seat for long solo rides. I put on 1200 miles riding double with my wife on back and was very comfortable. The only thing I need to do for this year is to get heavier suspension springs, because once in while we would bottom out. Otherwise I wouldn't change a thing. Good luck on your seat purchase. I had some friends ride my Z1 last year and they instantly fell in love with the add on 2-up seat. I purchased it also because I wanted to get away from the big couch feel.

This is great info...thank you. These cool mornings here in western NY got me thinking about that new sled. I just hope that we get as much snow as all the rain we've had this summer!
