Just seeing if anyone knows any good body work guys. I have the standard rust under the doors and extra cab on my truck. I wanted to get it fixed and painted and have no clue how much it will cost. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,

I might be a little far for you, but I set up my buddy's father's silverado with similar work for around $1200, I repaired his doors by sandblasting the rust and treating with a rust preventative paint, did the same to the rockers and the lower fenders as well as behind the rear wheels. Everythng was painted(lower 2tone only) to factory color. I then added a 6mil protective clear vynil coating to the lower fenders, rear lower quarters, and rockers(where the door gaskets always rub the paint off). Then I detailed the exterior - paint buff, paint chip touch up and blackout wheelwells etc. The whole project took about a week and a half - I do this on the side - I worked as an autobody tech for 5yrs, and have done it on the side since then - total of 15yrs. We did not replace any panels nor were there any rust holes in any panels, the lower doors were fairly rotted on the inside lip - I did fiberglass them slightly after the rust treatment to seal them and make em look right. I gave him a 1yr warranty - this was 2 1/2 years ago - I have not heard that it has rusted out again yet. Actually, I did repalce the door glass for him included in that price, used windows were about $75 each with some labor, so figure this would have been around $900. Although I do this on the side, I don't give my time away - $3000 sound like a lot of money, unless your leaving some detials out.

Yes it is...the very bottom rear quarter of the ext. cab was starting to rot from the inside out, which I hear is common on these trucks, they would of had to cut the section out and replace with new metal, it is labor intensive. If that does not need to be done it will be much less.

Most body shops nowadays don't do a lot of body work....most work is throw out the panel and replace with new. The rot these GM trucks see on cab corners is cut and replace kinda work...very costly in labor.

The upside is that most shops are becoming "experienced" with this repair considering about every extended cab GM from '88 up to around '01 has had or will have this problem soon......
