Can someone post close up pics of an IQR with a REV tank installed? I want to increase the range on my sled and the 8.8 or 9 gal kit I have isn't enough. If I can make a REV tank and Boss seat look decent I think that is the route I'll go.

I had the IQ with rev seat tank..didnt like it. Some people like it. I would go with a fusion tank and RAW seat for more range if you dont mind doing a little fab work. You need to modify the steering hoop.

I think it is a great look. I like the position of the Boss seat much better. Here are some pics. I don't have any close up ones on this computer. If you want closer let me know Dan. They both have rev/boss combos.

Yeah, it looks pretty good. Do you just trim the original console area to fit the neck of the REV tank? I assume the seat is made for a REV and not an IQ? TO get an additional 1.5 gal on top of the gas I carry would be great.
Does it matter what year or sled the REV tank comes off?

All rev tanks are the same if I am not mistaken. I went with a black tank but the gas gauge is a pain in the ass, I had to replace mine and it still doesn't work that great. I bought mine off a parted out 06 for $60. The boss seat is a standard rev, make sure you don't get the beaver tail, tell gus 100 times or he will jack it all up. You just have to trim back the console till you find that sweet spot, I took a little off at a time with an exacto knife. I definately needed the bigger tank with the 900 and now with the 12. If you go that route I will take some more pics of the console up close for you.

These are 12 gallon gas tanks, correct? I think it looks sweet with that combo, definitely the route I'd go if I was to build one..........which I just might be next summer.

Rev tanks are 10 gallon. I have the rev tank and boss high rise on my IQ and love it!!!! I tried the fusion tank and seat combo first and found that it puts you 3-4" back farther from the bars than stock or rev tank combo ( which sucks). Plus you have to heat up the front of the fusion tank to mold it around the coolant hose that goes to the tunnel coolers. Rev tank is the way to go. My .02
MBR44 Those are sharp looking IQ's, nice work!!!

Just curious, what did you guys do for a front tank hold down?

Jul 8 2008, 11:22 AM
This was my IQ when I picked it up from previous owner. This tank hung over each side of the tunnel at least 1/2-3/4" and I just found it really uncomfortable to stand. The seat however was super comfortable and I moved the setup to an '04 pro xr.

We used a tie down system wrapping around the front of the top of the tank and down to the bracket that holds the stock tank. f7, the white one is my bro's 1200wc.

Just wondering, was the tank off a Summit? They run a wider track, not sure if the tunnel is wider. MBR - are your tanks wider then the tunnel. I don't think I'd be crazy about that.

They are a touch wider, barely noticable, 1/2" each side. Here are some pics.

Since I am incredibly lazy and can't visualize the front mount very well. MBR44, I will have your children if you can get me a pic of what you did for the front mount.

I used a boat strap from the original tank bracket and wrapped it up and around the tank. She is solid. Here is a top and front pic.

Has anyone thought of using a newer RMK tank (11.5 gal) with a new Polaris freestyle seat? The new seat and tank are tall and narrow and should give better range and be comfortable.
I have been toying with the idea this summer and want to look into doing it this fall.
It will probably move the seat back about two inches and might be a little higher then the stock seat. That doesn't bother me too much because i am 6' 4" tall and don't sit too often on this sled unless on flat trails.
Let me know if anyone has seen this done.

Im doing a dragon tank on my IQR. I built a new upper subrame out of chromolly. It is deffinently alot of work even with all the tools in hand. I wouldnt recomend this if you didnt have a tubing bender, tig, mig and such.

Snowstar is that an F8 or 1000 motor?
I was thinking of doing one with an F8 motor, but wanted to keep som Polaris in it, since it already has a cat diamond drive...

Wow.....way to set the bar a little higher! I thought the CFI guys were cutting edge but a cat 1000 turbo? that is sweet. Please keep us updated with pics as you get it together. I am doing an almost identical project with a 900 CFI......and no turbo. Damn, does that make me gay? J/K, nice sled. I can't wait to see more pics.

Very nice work, upgrade from the 12? I was thinking of going with an ac1000 but would have cost me more than the 12 so I stayed with the 12. Definately post up some pics when you are done should be sweet. Dan
