What would the effect be, if I shortened the stinger on the pipe I am fitting into my IQ. I think I can get the whole pipe in, but, the fit and can placement would be a lot cleaner/less likely to hit the plastic and chain case if I shortened the stinger about 2-2 1/2 inches. My other option would be a different shape U-tube from pipe to can. Is the U-tube "effectively" part of the stinger? How does it affect the tuning of the pipe?

Neil @ Neilspower pipes 1-780-444-7472 or Tom at AK racing. Or have Neil make you a custom can to fit. He a great guy to deal with. He is a pic of my can for my 800 in a IQ chassis. There is a better picture of the can and pipe in the pinned section IQ 440/800 big block. Bruce

if u can find a Gen II pipe it has a shorter stinger on it and almost the exact same size i was able to keep the pipe intact and just modified the y pipe and build a can

assuming ur using a edge pipe

Yep edge pipe, I couldn't pass up the deal. I don't mind doing a little cutting and welding, plus, I just have to tack it at home and TIG the rest at work. The pipe is mostly fitted, I was hoping to keep the SLP can for noise reasons, NY is now targeting loud pipes, so I have no choice but to keep it quiet. The SLP can will fit, it just fits a lot better if I were to cut the stinger shorter.

Bruce,

I think I can do a similar fit with SLPs can. Right now it's in the way that they go in the ProX/Edge I think I can mod the stock bracket to fit the can.

BTW, your topic was the inspiration for doing the BB IQ, thanks for such a great post.
