Here is a picture of a spindle assembled looking from the top. In this pic the ski is slightly turned to the right.
Notice the flat arm of the steering spindle is almost parallel with the edge of the ski. This is what you will have to look for when alligning and assembling yours. You want the outer, flat edge of the steering spindle to be basically parallel with the ski.
Another very important thing to keep in mind. The outer tie rods ends attach to the bottom of the steering spindle. When reassembling these components it looks like they should go in from the top but they do not. Notice again in the picture, the nut is visable on the tie rod end. If you put it in the other way it will never line up properly.
Lubricate all the splined components quite well with grease. This will prevent corrosion and allow them to come apart easier next time.
Believe it or not this is one of the more confusing aspects of putting an IQ front end back together. I have watched kids struggle with this one in the shop for a while, then I usually point to a sled on the other side of the shop and say "Dude....look at that one over there".
