Im trying to figure out a quik fix here with out buying shock shims to revalve my rear rear track shock. in my 05. I want to have it valved as soft as posible(its in my watercrosser) so I was wondering if the skidoo shims work in them and if not can I just take out some washers out of it? pretty much right now I asume its pretty much stock valving and I want it like a oil shock. thanx.

yes you can do this very easy. i dont have the vavling sheet for the 05 right here but i can come up with something. if you have it apart and let me whats in it i can design a stack for you that will work pretty well

hey ill get you something made up tomorrow but which on is compression and which is rebound. my guess is bottom is compression side. both are farly close could go either way.
IQ-800
i belive that the 1.55 was rebound and the .9 was compression

Normally, the first shim on the compression side of the stack is 1.55" and the first shim on the rebound side of the stack is 1.50". This would be the shim closest to the piston of course.

IQ-800, your stack looks to be quite different from stock. Not sure if someone else played around inside your shock or thats the way it was when you tore it apart but that stack seems a little light compared to stock.

We are talking about '05/'06 IQr Rear Track Shock right??? A revalve will be easy just like time said but FYI the SkiDoo shims do not work properly.
IQ-800
ya I believe it was played around with a bit but wasnt sure how difrent it was from stock. if it was softened up from stock in 05 I coundnt imagine how stiff " stock" valving is cause it was still way to stiff for what I need it to be. I could barley compress it.

you are right aobut the 1.55 tom put i have seen so many different messes up stack come through here its funny. people that know nothing and they are messing around and then complain it rides bad. well ya when you took half the shims from the rebound to try and make the compression stiffer the back end will kick some, haha.

yes stock 05 was pretty stiff. im going to go take a shower and ill come back on and get you something made up. im a little dirty from work.

ok here is what id say run if you want it softer with what you got. not a ton to chose from here so if you dont like the feel of this we can try again with a different combo
compression
1.55x10
.9x10
1.45x10
1.0x10 (really is a 10)
1.3x10
1.25x12
1.1x10
1.0x10
.9x15
rebound if feels ok run the same (just changing the .9 shims at the end) is to stiff still run this
1.5x10
1.1x10
1.45x10
.9x10
1.3x10
1.2x12
1.1x10
1.1x10
wish you had some more shims but give this stack a try and see how you like it.

I think Times shim schedule will soften your shock up some, should be just about what you want. A couple of pointers if you guys don't mind me saying.

IQ-800, the one shim you have listed as 1.00X.009 is not likely a .009. They don't make .009 shims, measure it again.

Time. All the thicknesses you mention should read .010 or .012 not 10 or 12. We all know what you ment, just messin with ya.

IQ-800, I would also drill the Speed Hole or Oriface out to .062" Same as 1/16th" It comes stock with a .042" hole and this makes the low speed dampening very harsh. The larger hole will allow your clicker to be much more effective, every click will mean a progressively stiffer ride.

I would set the IFP depth at 2.50" and I would run 190psi of N2.

Times shim schedule will really soften up the rear shock, especially if you drill the speed hole to .062". If this schedule doesn't help, you must have something binding or a seized front track shock. If not seized then something is up with it because this should be a pretty soft ride.
IQ-800
thanks alot guys Ill try it out and will let you know. very apreciated!!!

good thing your here tom, yep i forgot about the oriface. well i only forgot here, i remember then im doing shocks so that what counts right, haha. ye drill out and have the IFP set right and youll be good to go.
