Hi. I got an Assault coming and I wonder if someone have access to one? Should/could be some pre-series units parked at dealers over the summer.

What I would like to know is track pitch and the length of the shock absorbers, (most important is the length of the front ones but the rear would be nice to know too) , thinking about going for Avid drivers and some IQ racer front shocks if they fit, used IQ shocks are actually quite cheap here.

Thanx in advance! /Simon

The track pitch is either 2.82 or 2.86", I can't remember which right now. head_hurts.gif

Sorry, can't help you on the shocks.

Track pitch is the same as the 155 and 163's, 2.86".

I'm not sure what you would gain with the IQR coilovers vs the adjustable pressure Walkers. The sled seems to jump and handle the rough stuff just fine. It needs a way bar real bad if you want cornering ability. I think the shock length of the Racer is longer than the Assault but not by much so you could probably get by with the switch. The little bushing spacer thingies are different between the two sleds so pay attention to those when making the swap. Also, make sure the end cap clears the shock tower at full rebound. The Assault stock shocks have reliefs machined into them so they don't hit the vertical legs of the black steel thingy.

Thank you for your inputs.

I am confident that the coilover shocks from for example IQR are better than the AIR:s. First because you are able to adjust spring preload and damping separately. On the new Air you can only adjust spring preload as I understand it. I also believe the Airs to be somewhat harder to valve right as the amount of oil that actually passes the shim stack is so small compared to on a shock with smaller/traditional rod diameter. In addition to these issues I have also seen some broken AIRs around here which has made me doubt them.

RR IFS: 18.3ish extended, 11 3/8ish dead length

Assault IFS: 18ish extended, 11 3/4 or so dead length

have someone else verify the Assault, like Mountainhorse on Snowest - he is full of top secret polaris data.

I've broken Airs also but due to impacts with trees and things. :-)
