To run a 1.25 track you need to either remove the front exchanger protectors or trim the track so it doesn't rub. Either way, I wouldn't recommend studding it. If you want studs then switch to 8 tooth drivers (stock is 9) and leave the protectors in place. FYI - a 1" track will rub the front exchanger on an SRX.

As for the skid plate, what ever you want. Just be careful drilling the holes. My buddy hit the coolant line under the motor, which requires motor out for replacement.

thanx for info and warning on skid plate. i have a 1" on there now and it has rubbed in spots on the protectors. how much clearance is there from protectors to exchanger the track that is on it has studs but i think they are about 1" in heighth should i be worried?

how much do plates run? are they worth putting on? or are they more hassle than they are worth?

Is it the original track? Asking because the original tracks on the SRXs were a 0.75".

As for the studs, they are probably 1.075" and are very common. You should not have any problems running them as long as you don't run the track so loose that it balloons at speed.

Cost depends on brand, but they are around $50. Most people put them on for one of two reasons, looks or off trail protection. If you are looking to improve either then it may be worth it and they really are not that hard to put on. Like I said, just make sure the drill doesn't get away on you are it goes through. Install shouldn't take more then 15 min.

Can I ask why you are looking at a 1.25" track? Do you ride off trail more then 50% of the time?

Why don't you just get a 1" track that is good in loose snow like the Camoplast Carve (AKA the Predator)? Track works amazing on trail, is good in loose powder and doesn't kill top speed (or howl) like a Rip Saw.

I've got one on my Viper and I absolutely love it. We got a SHIT load of snow this year and off trail it handled the powder no problem at all. For ice I've got 144 of the 1.075" studs down the middle and my Viper has same clearance issues as your SRX.

Here is a video of me launching in loose snow: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BBOhsKhKN-s

Below is a picture from one of your major storm that came through. Track worked awsome!

the track i believe is a stock polaris track with 144 studs i think it is a .90 cause it is a little bigger than my stock yammy track. i end up leaving the yammy and taking the polaris when i go off trail cause the yammy gets a lot of track spin and the nose tends to sink and ride heavy in the front.

Then I would definitely go with the track noted above. Great in the loose stuff without destroying your top end. I did a 114mph run last year with my Viper!

I agree, a 1" track is fine unless alot of off trail. I have a 1" Hacksaw & 192 Warthogs. My track rubbed some on the protectors for a few miles then it was good to go.

1" hacksaw here with 192 1.175" studs, i trimmed the lugs where the protectors are though so i never had any rubbing.

Yeah i stripped the suspension down to the rails then worked my way up with wet sand from 600-800-1000-1500 then polished the hell outta them, from there i sealed it in with 2 layers of wax, lots and lots of hours but in the end pictures dont even do justice looks like a mirror.
