No offence, but i think you need more practice. Last summer i bought an iq 440, i wanted to buy/build a ramp the day i got the sled, did i? no i had never hit a ramp before so i waited and went up to sled park this past season acouple times and they actually showed me how to hit a ramp the right. On this topic
http://www.hardcoresledder.com/forums/inde...94407&st=60 you were talking about hitting a 6ft snow jump with a 20 foot gap and now you want to hit a comp ramp? i guarantee you that the second you see the ramp in your yard and the pile of snow as the landing your not going to want to do it, it's mental your going to tell your self no way i can't do this. But keep in mind this is from my point of view, I'm 16 same age as you last season i got to sled park and saw the "f-head" for the first time, i thought no way in hell am i gonna hit that thing, that's insane.

That's a picture of the f-head, that day Tinger and dylan took me out riding around hitting some snow jumps and did some speed runs by the end of the first day i had hit the comp pulled back to seventy feet about twenty five times, that was my first day ever hitting a ramp. I know dam well that if I hadn't had some help I would have never hit a ramp at all. before you go and spend a grand plus on a ramp why don't you drive over to bessemer michigan spend the $10 or $15 and get some real help with hitting a ramp before you spend so much money, and possibly hurt yourself. I see your from minnesota it's only a two and a half hour drive from duluth.

Theres alot more than just ramps to hit there's tons of snow jumps, rythm sections, step ups, step downs all sorts of different shit to hit
And i agree with brain child take your time and get with the right people that know what their doing so they can teach you the right way. Cause when you crash off a ramp hit it hurts it's not like falling off your sled on some 6 foot back yard snowbank jump you could get really f'd up bad. Just ask Brain Child he knows first hand how bad you can get hurt

Hitting the ramps not the hard part being consistant and hitting it at the right speed is the hard part. Cause it sucks if you come up short and eat the bars and it really hurts if you go to fast and over shoot the landing. And hitting the ramp is more mental than anything it's pretty intimidating for a first timer not knowing what the hell their doing they'll see the ramp and tell their self theirs no way i can do this.

It's a horrible feeling when your in the air and you just know that your going to go to far or come up short. Last year up at QL my dad's exact words were " dam kid looks like some ones guttin a deer out here" i ate bars pretty good on the rythm section.
Foxfloat look at this video
http://www.exconfreeride.com/video08younguns.php these are kids our age 15-16+ ramping, I ramped up there with most of them and would have been riding in the young guns comp but doctors said " well if he crashes one of three things could happen one he could be ok, two he could be a vegetable or three he could die" and the doctor also said that if I simply fell out of bed anyone of those three things could happen. And that injury wasn't even from a ramp that was from a snow jump.
High flyer sno pro have you ever hit a ramp?

Jun 25 2008, 11:36 PM
yea i've seen that video before i look at the x games replays a lot too they make it look so easy. but thats the same ramp i'm going to build in that video you showed me. i know a lot of it is mental to hit the ramp the first couple of times but i've seen enough people do it that i have the mental part down and if i put that much time into building it i'll at least try it out.

I've never hit a ramp. I'm not really into the ramp/freestyle thing. It's not really what interests me. Hit the ramp turn around, hit the ramp turn around, etc... I like going out to a field and finding natural hits and stuff like that. I've got a track and usually build some snow kickers in the driveway with the Bobcat when we get enough snow. Although i do want to try hitting hitting a ramp this year.

Ive also never hit a ramp before or a decent snow gap. But this winter I will definately be making the 274 mile trip to Bessemer this winter. I figure I have to go out and try to hit a ramp before I build one of have one built.

I agree with you guys that hitting the ramps the first time is a little intimidating but after the first couple of hits its pretty simple. I entered a freestyle competition the first day I ever hit a ramp in '06 and have been having fun on them ever since. Competition is pretty fun even at 47 years old.
The advice here is good. Go to a local ramp, take a few pointers from a ramper who knows what he's doing, pace someone over the first ramp, and the rest will be history. It's really kinda fun till you overshoot and
lawndart your sled into the flat from the superkicker.
I never posted the rebuild thread but that '06 is better than ever now. The front is perfect and the back you almost can not tell it was scratched.

wickedgmc if we have enough people who would seriously want to do this since most of us people on this thread are from minnesota some of us could car pool save on the gas$$
If were serious about this we would just have to contact dylan or tinger.. if were serious about doing this we should post the idea up in the cat and doo areas so people with other race chassis who don't look at polaris topic's could all go. It's $25 a day per sled not to bad.
would we all go up for the weekend or a day? anyone who's serious about doing this put some input in

I would definately be interested. As said before wickedgmc and I wanted to make the trip so this would help with the gas money. I think that if we got some guys we should go for the weekend.

I would probably be there since i only live about 1/4 mile from there. I have a trail that goes right from my house to Queer Land.

Thats a good idea. Maybe make a thread in the general forum ? Maybe we can try to get it sticky'd. Thats an awesome idea though. Be nice if we could even get 2 trailer loads full of sleds, and figure out a place we could reserve some rooms at for the weekend.

That 06 does look good now, especially with H-Dog on the side.
