2nd Annual Can-Am Series in Holley NY. Sponsered by the Southern Orleans Trailblazers. The date is 9/13/08 and 9/14/08. Put alot of work into the surface of track last fall and this spring. Surface of track has been smoothed, the grass is growing and we are picking up the last few stones laying around. We moved the track 30 feet to the south and did some leveling in the shutdown area as well. We have also done some tiling in hopes to keep it dry in wetter years. Should be a lot better year for the racers. The pictures show some of the progress. I'll post more pics as we prepare for thr race.

What don,t you guys in holley understand. COSDRA killed your race last year. $ 120 DOLLARS per class in amateur and the winners got tropies which some never recieved. Lets see, cosdra running your race plus probley gas almost five bucks a gallon by than equals about 30 sleds for you. Wake the hell up and boot that cosdra.

sounds about right,i raced last year it was $40 to race plus a 1 day membership that was $10 or $15,plus gate fee?. i have raced just about every where in ny and cosdra has the worst cost to the racer(amateur). you could go to kosaag with $60 and race 2 amateur races.then get trophy's and cash for placing 1st,2nd,3rd.i also talked to the owner of the track last year and at that point he was interested in having his own events.wish that could happen.

just run semi-pro, that pays back if all the amatures run semi-pro it would be a good payout.

Thats what it is about. Some people may not agree with who runs the show but bottom line is the work that this club as done to this track in the past year. To inexperienced and maybe undermanned to run the show on their own. CORSDA was expensive but like XC said they are gonna work with the amateurs more this year for price, and snoopy has a good idea of everyone just running semi-pro. Plus the event brings out some fast sleds, great action and good competition. Keep up the good work guys. Hopefully I will be able to race and if I ever get off the road I can actually come help u guys on the track.

I give the club credit for realizing they don't have the experience or staff to manage a top notch event. I would much rather pay a few extra bucks to be part of/watch an organized, well run race, rather than stand around watching a total "clusterfuck" develop in front of my eyes. Nothing is cheap about this sport anymore. I've watched a few people dish out some good coin to play on the grass a couple times a year, so in my opinion, quality is important here. And from the looks of the job they did on the their "field of play", it's gonna be worth every penny....

VERY WELL SAID MAN. Nice to see someone on these threads that look at the positive still not just the negatives. Thanks man I am a member that but haven't done anything in helping them due to working on the road but these guys have done alot and need the acknowledgement of their hard work. And supporting their events is big. XC can tell ya he is one of the guys up there all the time. If they can get the numbers and good word spread they may even think about running 2 events, 1 corsda and one personal. The CORSDA is nice cause u see some fast sleds and they have slips and a nice setup that they do not the club. Also constructive criticism and suggestions are always considered.

Wow, that a lot better then last year!
I was standing at about ¾ track last year when a sled kicked up a rock a little bigger then the size of your fist. It went over my head and landed on the other side of the beer tent!

Jul 23 2008, 08:24 PM
No its not gonna cost a million to run am lol. I believe the club worked it out to lower the price by offsetting it. But in order to do what they wanna do they need the amatuer numbers to be up. The track is getting there the Pres says about 3-4weeks till they will be happy with it. There are still some stones out there not sure u could ever get them out of a field but there are guys out there many times a week just picking stones out. So like I have said before this club wants this to be a good event. No matter if you don't like who runs it, just judge this event more on the hard work of the volunteers and the nice track they have dropped some serious cash into. The future is bright at this location.

Don't forget amateurs getting that 50% payback winner take all setup. Should make for some good size classes in amateur. The club is going out looking for donations all over this area to get as much as they can.

I am hoping to be there. Never know with my work but gonna do my best. I am sorry but not sure I remember ya, very bad memory for a young guy. LOL. Well there is alot less clay start line than last year so that will keep it down, plus last years track was more than less done quicker than needed for a full prep. They started working on it and rolling and leveling and pulling stones since the last one was over. Can't guarentee anything but it sure looks alot better.

We will bring you a shirt for sure this year! We will be in the Ontario Snowmobiler Magazine 4 bed trailer this year. Probably have the Benett Power Sports Tent up! Looks like everything is coming together, and the boys have put alot of effort into the track. Great job by the club members!
Do you know if there is power hook up available if we also bring a 5th wheel trailer. Redsled and I really want to stay right at the track this year? Looking forward to seeing you again!

The club president is on this site xc800sp, and I believe they have some spots with that. If not and as long as I am around that weekend I live about 10-15 min from the track and u could park in my driveway. Back yard is big but couldn't get a trailer around the side, tents could go back there though. I was just working in Oshawa, ON in June. May be back in a cpl months.

If you end up back up here you will have to let me know. We can hook up! I could have the wife cook us a home cooked meal, which im sure you would love after living on the road. If you end up here before summers end, your more than welcome to stay a nite or two at my house. Pool, hot tub and most important a pool bar! Wow, you still holding that grudge. First no mention in the magazine story and now nothing on this board. Funny I should see you on here today. I brought my sled home today from Dad's place to start getting it ready and checked out the test facility while I was there. Got to get the farmer to get the wheat off the field in the shut down area and cut some grass down on the strip and we should be good to test. You still interested in coming up to test? Get your stuff on the go and we will keep in contact when we can go. Another week or two and we should be all the way on.
To think, I was just gonna come down and drink some ales in the beginning, two years later here we are excited to get there to race. Go figure.

We have a better system rigged up this year in the event it is as dry as last year. We have use of a water tanker this has been fitted with a sprayer. Should be able to keep alot of the dust down.
