Ok...so we all know what the gas prices are at our local area pumps which is about $4.23 right now(near me anyway..) Last season places on the trail (barrows, flat rock, highmarket, etc...) were selling gas at this price or even higher... What are your predictions on how much gas will be this winter on the trail?!?! I am predicting at least $6.00 to $7.50 /gal at the most.
F*ck you BIG OIL COMPANIES!!

Very simple don't buy gas at the trailside stops!
The Quick and Easy in C'ville or the Stewarts in Lyons Falls have fuel at street prices. If you are on the North Side of the Hill instead of Louies inflated gas prices buy you fuel at Creekside just up the road. In Osceola don't buy at Cedar Pines go to Osceola Outpost last year it was $1.00 LESS per gallon. The gas station next to the Resevoir Inn in Redfield has reasonable street gas prices too.
Plan your ride and fuel stops and there is no reason you need to pay for gas at higher prices for your sled than you pay for your car.
If tou come up short and absolutely HAVE to get fuel put in a gallon or two and ride to the nearest street pump.

The experts are saying that gas should hover around the $4 mark for the rest of the year. If the trailside places are gouging, just don't buy there, it may mean going a little out of your way but it would be worth it, at least for your own satisfaction. I personally have two sleds that get 20 mpg and am not going to change my riding habits.

hobbie or not with sleds holding more than 10 gallons its big money! And unless you are ridding a brand new sled with SDI you will be paying 120-140 a day for an all day ride. Most sleds get 10-14mpg unless you have a brand new top of the line sled, so one can see it doesn't take long to rack up a big bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If gas is that high this winter my sled will be staying parked most of the winter, ridding will be a one time a week thing!

I found a way to keep the cash in the good ol USA, I rebuilt this Flex Fuel 2001 GMC Sonoma 4 cyl pickup. New crate engine rebuilt tranny and basically replace everything. It gets great MPG and runs good on the Corn gas which is 105 octane .... better than the 87 regular. I have a station 11 miles from my home. Now gotta get my sled to run on it lol

Yep...
Ethanol is perhaps the biggest lie ever perpetrated by a government upon it's citizens.
We all pay higher food prices and the joke is on the consumer. The reason ethanol is cheaper is the government subsidises it... from the farmers that grow the corn and places that process it to the gas companies that sell it. We all pay for it whether we use it or not.
It even ticks me off that it's almost impossible to find gas that does not contain at least some ethanol.

Whatever F7dude the food prices are going up from the cost of F in diesel fuel (almost 5 bucks a gallon) the trucks used to deliver it. My truck runs a million times better on 105 octane that reg gas but keep in my the truck was designed to run E85. I loose 2-3 miles per gallon but at a dollar less a gallon I still save a shitload of money because I drove alot so you keep giving your money to the Overseas oil that makes up your gas. Only Sunoco and Hess use oil from America. I know alot of farmers and would prefer to give the money to them. Keep in mind you do loose fuel economy so depending on your vehicle it may not be worth it. I will guess you can't buy it in your area cheap enough too make it worth your while. Get someone to post at 3.08 per gallon I paid yesterday they would not burn it. Let me see a post saying screw it I will gladly pay over 4 bucks a gallon before I will burn corn gas.

I thinks the pumps are bullshit saying that the fuel contains 10% I am willing to bet your pumping a higher percentage at most pumps. I think my regular truck runs worse with the so called 10% Eth. Keep in mind my F150 is not designed to run on it. Too bad we can not buy good old high octane gas without ethanol especially in my sled.

I think all the businesses are worried. The more people have to spend on fuel the less they have for rooms, food, etc. Take a guy that goes riding for a long weekend or a week and has a budget of $1,000.00 per trip. $250.00 RT for fuel $250-$300 for a room $300-$400 for sled fuel/oil... doesn't leave much spending cash for food and beverage.
Unless they are one of the bar stool riders that put on 50-100 miles a weekend and call it good. I personally wouldn't get in the truck unless I intended to put 150-200 miles a day on while I was there.

The price of gas will effect my sleddiing a little. I will only put on 4,999 miles next year instead of 5,000. That Ethanol Gas is crap. I drove down to Lancaster, PA this past weekend to see my first Grandchild. I used Hess regular gas with NO ethanol on the way down and got 33 MPG. On the way back I filled up with some crap that contained 20 percent Ethanol and only got 27 MPG coming home. Sure Glad most stations in the Rome NY area don't have Ethanol in their Gas.

I'm not worried about fuel prices or money personally, it's the riders that don't have their own places with the fuel pig rigs to tow their sleds with that will have the problems. Once the businesses realize the cash flow is not there they will either need to increase their prices to stay solvent or shut down. That will make it bad for most everyone. We eat/drink mostly at camp usually only buying lunch out. We might spend $20-$30 a day for both me and my wife. It's the average Joe that eats three meals a day out that this is going to hurt the most.
