Has anyone taken the n.h. boater safety test lately? I live in mass and have a boat on a n.h. lake and I have been informed that it is not legal for me to operate my boat without a boater safety certificate. I have no problem getting it but they sure make it difficult for us out of staters to obtain one.
I have to take the online course and a test for $25.00 and then after passing it I have to schedule a proctored test in preson at a location in n.h.
they only offer the test on saturdays or at night all over the state but no closer than an 1 1/2 hour drive for me, so after work trying to get there is impossible.
Has anyone taken this test lately and if so what kind of questions and how hard is it so I have an idea once I can make it to the test.[ hopefully before I get a ticket for using my boat]

The test is common sense if you know boats but there are alot of ocean questions. This was started almost ten years ago so it shouldn't be a surprise to boaters. up until last year you could do it online or at home with a video and mail it in. Too many people cheated. That's why there's so many assholes out there.

The proctored exam is basically the same as the online practice and certification exam. I took the the practice exam over and over again until I consistently passed. study up on those buoys and navigation lights. it was about 75 questions. when you pass the proctored exam you'll get a temp certificate that day good for 45 days you will have to send away for the permanent certificate for another ten dollars along with a copy of your temporary certificate. Good luck.

Welcome to Conneticut north. Pretty soon you'll have to pay 25 bucks, take a saftey course and prove to the saftey gastapo that you can take a shit all on your own without hurting yourself.

you can take education in another state that course is nationally certified, I'd recommend finding one that does complete online training/testing like NH used to do.

Sorry but I think your fishing. Is it coincedence that your age let you skate the law till now??The state sent notice with regestration renewals in the mail.Any registration agent had it posted. But after 8 plus years that posted paper must have yellowed with age.I really find it hard to belive that anyone could be ignorant to this law.

I took the test 2 yrs ago in Straford with a state instructor. I could be wrong, but I believe that every state will be doing this eventually and there are some that already do. The instructor told us that if you took the class online or at home it was only valid in NH, but if you took class with a state instructor then the license was valid in every state. On the back of mine it does say "Certification Source: Classroom" and on the front it say's "This is a NASBLA Approved course". I would definatly advise taking the course with an instructor.

I believe that you can still take the Ohio boaters test on line and then transfer it to NH.

Live in another state, but boating in New Hampshire? You might be able to take your state's course. But, check with your state agency first, as New Hampshire only accepts boater education cards from another state if they are issued by the state agency responsible for boating education. For example, New Hampshire will accept the Ohio card or the Pennsylvania card for residents of those states, but NOT any Massachusetts card issued by an online exam provider.
do you have to be a resident of those states you mentioned to have n.h. accept the card as valid? as written in the statment above from the boater ed web page.

The practice tests cover all the crap you need , but, they dont cover
NH lake marker navigation. Make sure you know the NH lake Spar buoy system.
It will be on the Proctered test.BTY I passed the test, even the Low head dam questions. WTF is a low head dam anyway? We dont have any where I boat.
